This thread is a couple of days late because mudgirl and I have been visiting with my sister in Reading, PA, since the 27th. We’re headed home to Cumberland this afternoon.
Anyway, on Monday, Dec. 29th, mudgirl turned nine. Some of you might remember her from the stuff with the punks in our neighborhood, or other random stuff. Some of you don’t know of her at all, I’m sure. But she’s nine now.
On Monday, we first went to the laundromat (no fun, but sis doesn’t have a washer/dryer or a car, so I drove to the laundromat), but after that, it was all mudgirl’s day. We went to Friendly’s for a late lunch/early dinner (laundromat took longer than we thought!), then Chuck E. Cheese for a couple of hours of games and the play area. Then, on to my niece’s house (this would be the daughter of the sister I’m visiting, also lives in Reading) for a surprise birthday cake and for mudgirl to play with my great-nephew and their ferret for a while.
All in all, barring the laundromat, she had a great day. And I had a great day.
I gotta tell you, I was a little hesitant to consent to having another child (this one was my husband’s idea) because I was “getting older” (I was 38 when she was born), but she has been a constant source of joy and love and amazement in my life. She has such a scientific, analytical mind, so very different from either of her big sisters, that I can’t wait to see how she turns out as she grows up.
So, happy 9th, mudgirl, and many happy returns!
