I didn’t see a new thread created yet so here we go.
Since COVID, most of the houses in our neighborhood set up in our driveways to hand out candy rather than having kids come all the way up to the front door. For the first time since we started doing this, my wife joined me outside. And right off the bat, she started in with the anti-Trump comments. One kid came up dressed in an orange DOC jumpsuit and her first comment was “Tr**p should be wearing one of those!”
I said, “Can we please keep the politics out of Halloween?” Jeez, not everything needs to be about Tr**p.
(I’m avoiding spelling out the name so that the thread doesn’t get auto-tagged.)
ETA: Looks like it got auto-tagged anyway. So there’s another mini-rant!
And a guy on my soccer team, even in the middle of a game, is relating everything to Da Prez… give it a rest, I’m trying to think about the game (or ANYthing else).
Agreed! And at the time I was considering making a November thread I actually considered this exact one so it 100% has the Atamasama stamp of approval (which is not honored by any authority).
My month is off to a great start. Last Friday I managed to fall while getting ready for a doctor’s appointment and ended up being taken to the ER. While I had not hit my head or lost consciousness, the EMTs didn’t like my blood pressure or the fact that when I tried to stand I started feeling dizzy. After the usual battery of tests it appears that I might have a UTI, which is screwing up my systems. It also appears that my anemia had reached the point that they gave me several iron infusions.
The hospital released me to a rehab center on Wednesday, where I’ll probably be staying for two or three weeks. I strongly suspect that when I leave I’ll have to have home health care, since I live alone.
It will probably be done through a referral from my primary care physician. I had recently gotten one for another recent medical issue, but ended up not needing it. However, I did have a chat with someone from the service who explained what services they do and do not provide.
Luck of the draw; when I moved to NC one of the first things I did was search for a local doctor (even though at that time I wasn’t having any health problems) and his name popped up.
Now I have a stable of doctors for all my health issues, but I rely on my PCP to help me navigate through everything.
The last few months have been a real roller coaster of health issues, some of which I may have ranted about. I had actually started thinking about looking into senior living facilities. Of course, moving into one would necessitate getting rid of most of my library, not to mention all the other crap I]ve accumulated.
Depends on which one and whether you’re looking at independent living or assisted living. We’ve looked at one that has independent living homes that are larger than the one we currently live in.
Back when I was living in Chicago I got a mailing from some place that had independent living homes with two, and possibly three bedrooms. At the time we weren’t looking for anything like that (this was long before Patti had started having health issues) so I didn’t try to get any info on costs, etc.
For USians, DST ends tonight, so clocks fall back one hour @ 2am.
Cue my semiannual “standard, daylight, split the difference, pick something else altogether, I don’t care, just pick something and STICK WITH IT!!!” rant. I truly do not care what arbitrary artificial label is slapped on what point in the diurnal cycle, so long as we’re all in enough agreement to function with a minimum of confusion, but the changeover is a colossal PITA. Takes a week or more to get the cats sorted out on adjusted meal times, for example, once we got all the non-self-setting timepieces corrected.
