Happy Doper Milestones thread

Correct!

That’s absolutely marvelous. Congratulations!

Thank you for asking–I had forgotten that I ever posted this, though never forgot the experience we went through.

Wonder no more: Here is the love of my life, a few hours ago in a town about 80 miles from Rio de Janeiro. She and her sister are there for the month, visiting family and friends. It’s a LONG month.

Though she had some other issues over the years, she has not had to be hospitalized and treated in the way that last happened in 2014. She is perky and back up to her normal 95# or so. And I have to remember to never take that for granted.

Somewhat appropriately for the original mood, here we are a few months ago playing an arrangement of It Is Well With My Soul, with her at her baby grand piano, where she should be. Life is too short!

(there seems to be some dust in the air…)

The Teen graduated from high school a couple weeks ago, Mrs. Intergalactic Gladiator and I took him to a 3-day freshman orientation two weeks ago and then dropped him off on Mackinac Island where he will work over the summer with his sister, who has been working there for 5 years now. We are very proud of him and are now empty nesters.

The house feels so quiet now.

Today is my 26th wedding anniversary! My bride and I are off to a nice dinner out.

Congratulations, and Happy Anniversary!

Our 23rd was a few days ago. My wife isn’t into big fancy dinners so we went to a local deli for sandwiches at lunch. It was still romantic.

Happy anniversary to both of you! My wife and I had our 27th last week. We didn’t go out because of the situation, but three weeks ago we spent the weekend at a very nice resort on the island of Rhodes - the one in Greece, not New England - drinking ouzo and chilling by the pool.

Very nice. Happy Anniversary to you!

My CT Scan earlier this week does NOT show the cancer that appeared in April of this year. Meaning the chemotherapy has worked as intended and I’m on my way to remission!

Yay!

:confetti_ball:

Hurrah for the good news.

That must be such a great feeling! So glad to learn this is the case. I’m happy for you!

Congrats to all those celebrating their longevity of wedded bliss, too!

@Mama_Zappa and I had our 42nd wedding anniversary yesterday. She’s my answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

I have retired, the wife has retired again (second time), and we are heading back to Thailand in just a few short weeks. America has rapidly spiraled into a rotten country, full of shit people, and we’re out of here. Our return to the US in 2016 was always meant to be temporary, but we had planned to spend 12 years here before going back. Nine years has been more than enough. We had planned on a big trip back east before going, Chicago to New York State, even made lots of hotel and car reservations. Canceled them all recently, and no plans to set foot here again until what is essentially the American Nazi Party no longer has control. We have our flight tickets, I have a long-term visa, and we’ve signed a year’s lease on a place in Bangkok. That will give us enough time to hunt for a permanent place upcountry, and we already know the area we’ll be settling down in eventually. Good luck to the rest of you.

Thank you-I know we are going to need it.

Got an email this morning that it’s my 30 year work anniversary. Holy crap that’s almost half my life! My boss sent me an email thanking me for my dedication, but I just think of it as having been lucky (or unlucky, maybe) enough to not have been RIF’ed many times over the years.

i love how you two are living a new American dream…or, at least, this one’s :backhand_index_pointing_up:(points to self). Take care! :+1:

Not worth a new thread, but nonetheless still a milestone: my son, my only child, who you guys heard about from the time before he was born in 2002 until now, just leased his first apartment today.

The last milestone has been achieved, we are now “empty nesters”, the only time he will come back is to visit unless something goes horribly wrong, which it won’t. Dude started his professional career making more than both his parents and there’s nowhere to go but up.

I’m happy, but I’ll miss him.

Mazel tov to AirSon and the new empty nesters!
