I really dig this show, it’s the best thing since Seinfeld. I started watching in the second season and it’s about the only sitcom I watch now other than Big Bang Theory and Arrested Development reruns.
I think the characters are all funny and interesting, and it’s funny that Max (the gay guy) is really the manliest of the male characters. I think Jane might be a witch, Penny is hopeless but she tries, and Alex is the ditzy one with a huge appetite. It’s funny seeing a pretty blonde with barbecue sauce all over her face. Dave and Brad walk the line between metrosexual and manly men.
The plots could be a bit better, but the characters, setting, and humor are spot-on for me.
Happy Endings gets mentioned in this thread about the cancellation of The B---- in Apt 23. I personally don’t like the show anymore. As someone said in that thread, it’s like they’re trying too hard.
I love Happy Endings! I hope it lasts for another season. Partly because it’s just a great show, and partly because it’d be a perfect show to catch on rerun in syndication. Alex is my favorite character, but I love them all.
I discovered this show last year and eventually went back and watched it all. I love it but I will agree this year is a tad weaker than last season. I hope it is renewed, it’s a-mah-zing!
It has been a little more hit or miss this season. I thought the episode where Jane helped Penny shop for a car was good, especially when Penny acted like she was storming out and walked through the glass wall. And Jane says "We’re not paying for that!’
That misdirection was huge, given that it was Jane and knowing the Jane and not her sister (who, by her own admission is “[I’m] not as dumb as I am,” after all).
