Happy Family Day!

I’m off to walk my dog, my neighbours must all be sleeping late as it’s still and quiet outside, even now! No one going to school, no one headed to church, or work. It’s awesome!

So, what you gonna do with your day off?

Piper clan is curled up on the chesterfield watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse. Meeting Piper Granddad for lunch at Earls later on. Happy Family Day!

I guess I’ll lobby the BC Gov’t to have Family Day.

Gee, I thought, Ontario was one of the last, to get on board. I also thought Alberta started it, and just assumed BC joined right in. Live and learn.

Maybe go phone an MP. "What? Are families in BC somehow lesser?

I love family day! Hurray for made-up holidays that give me a long weekend!

Just did some googling - looks like BC will be getting Family Day starting in 2013.

Well, we are currently in Radium Hot Springs, but we’re going to drive back to Calgary today.

Some pictures from this weekend -

This is a common sight in Radium - Bighorn Sheep just wandering down the street.

The herd.

The sheep close up.

Hey, An Gadai - if you come out to Calgary, you can visit Radium and see things like this!

Mom just headed back home after visiting for a few days. She likes to get an early start on the drive home, she’s paranoid about driving. So I get to spend the rest of my family day lounging around doing nothing! Woo!

I’m down in the US, but I work for a Canadian company. I get Family Day off.

Of course, it’s also President’s Day here. But most of my friends have to work. All of my friends in the related industries are working.

Thanks, (most of) Canada! Happy Family Day.

Well, I messed up my knee on Friday so I’m stuck in the house. It does look very nice out there though!

Footnoting. I thought I had been so careful and noted my sources as I wrote, but now that I am going over the text, I can see I only did that about half the time. So I have papers and notebooks spread all over my office floor and am crawling from one to the other, trying to find “where the *hell *did I get this damn quote from?”

Well my husband is working a 12 hour day, and I had a last minute meeting for a design I am doing, so I hauled my 2 year old and 6 month old downtown to have this meeting. I swallowed some words because the director seems to have forgotten that we have no money and no time, because she wants me to shop all over town for random things that don’t exist or can’t afford.

Then because the kids were pretty good while I worked we played at Winterfest and the two year old made towers out of ice blocks.

Currently both kids are sleeping and I am probably going to make some pizza dough and sauce to freeze for a dinner party with friends next week.

How many homemade pizzas will 8 adults and 1 toddler eat?

An update: after lunch with Piper Granddad, we went to Five Pin Glo-Ball Bowling with 80s Big Hair Music!

Long Family Day over here!
My great aunt came over to visit the kids.
Played on the backyard rink with the boys then had a snooze while watching the afternoon hockey game.
Went tobogganning with the kids then sat down to a turkey dinner!
Everybody was asleep by about 8pm!

US worker bee here, but I get Presidents’ Day off, possibly because I work for the President (very indirectly…but it is an executive agency!).

Took our active dog to the dog park, ran her around for an hour, then went home and played with both dogs for a while. Later we watched TV while the littler one slept in my lap and the big one leaned against me.

I want second Family Day. :frowning:
