Happy Father's Day

Pardon me if this has already been covered and my eyes, slightly blurred by the steam arising from the skillets of pancakes, eggs, and corned beef hash loving daughter and I cooked for The Man, but

Oh, Daddies of the SDMB!
May your eggs be unbroken, your pancakes be huge and round, and your coffee be rich and flavorful! May all your days as a father be loving and happy. And may your children forever profusely thank you for the joy you bring them!

Love,
Cinnamon Girl

And, to a certain Norwegian Wood, may you take much joy out of the fact that your wife cannot read Preview Post… sigh

One more time:

Happy Father’s Day
Oh Daddies of SDMB!

Thank’ee Much, and a very nice Summer Solstice right back at ya (Moving into Cancer now, Woo-F-ing HOO!).

Spent 1 hr doing a friend’s brakes for free yesterday AM, damned if he didn’t slip a $50 in on me anyway. So away to the donut shop with the wife & brood (there goes $17) and then to the park for a picnic of bananas & soda (compliments of my 5 year old). For dinner it was take & bake pizza (another $20) and then try & find some peace while I sleep of this mother of a cold I have had since last week!

I still got me $13 for Chipotle lunches this week, so all is right in the world.

Ah. The joys of being a family guy. And to think I might have stayed in the Army, or never left my job as the chimney sweep!

My boy got me the best Father’s Day present ever. He got me……out of having to sit through a 4 hour dance recital on Sunday evening!

Casey1505, amazing coincidence, except that the recital I escaped was Sunday morning.

And they were charging $9 a head to watch it! (Why the heck would they schedule a dance recital for Father’s Day anyway?)

Anyway, Cinnamon Girl, thanks much for the nice wishes!

Yeah, that studio has quite the racket going. Aside from paying however much it is for the class, parents are required to purchase at least a certain amount of tickets, purchase the costumes through them, and purchase the “Official Video”. Show started at 6, no admittance after 5:55, and you were expected to stay until the end. No ducking out after your 5 year old nieces did their things.

Once my sister-in-law tallied it up, she decided that this would be her daughter’s only recital with this company.

And what compay with a large percentage of kids under 10 schedules a recital (a) on Fathers Day and (b) at 6:00 PM on Fathers Day?

My wife gave me the out before we left. “If he gets fussy, you can just take him home and I’ll get a ride.” My mind raced. Where was I going to pinch him so that he’d cry, but not hurt him too much? Luckily, he solved that problem for me, and I love him for it. He’s a good boy.
