Happy follow-up to my other kitten thread.

Will do.

::squee:: What cute widdle kittehs!

Yellow tigers are a special breed, nobody. I’m not sure if they even know they’re cats. They tend to have both human and doglike character traits. But given my pick, I’d take the yellow one from the litter every time!

Give them scritches from me.

Good looking little guys!

I agree with giving them a little time. They’re still exploring, getting used to their new surroundings and the people, and the routine. Note that they’ll probably surprise you at some point–one day, like all previous days, they ignore you; then the next day and forever after, they act as if you’ve been their best friend forever. In the meantime, there’s nothing wrong with giving them pats and skritches, and trying to get them to play with you. Have fun!

They play with us just fine, and they’re slowly getting more affectionate. I just think that since we knew Jamie when he was younger he bonded better with us. These kittens lived with other people and now they’re in a new environment, so even though they’re getting use to it, and us, I’m not sure they’ll be as close as Jamie was.

But they make my wife happy and that’s what I originally got Jamie for in the first place. So now she has two kittens to make her happy.

Yeah, i was about to say, Jamie was about to hit that kinda phase where he’s not as interested.

Some cats also don’t want to be held, but will be balls of affection in other ways. My kitty doesn’t want to be picked up, but she sleeps with me, and she’ll get on the back of the armchair and drape herself around me.

Both of the Neville kitties are like this. They don’t like to be picked up. They will get in our laps (Luna more than Katya), and they will purr when we pet them (both of them do this), but they want to get in a lap themselves, not be picked up and put into a lap. Lots of cats like affection on their own terms, and seem to like to keep some control of the situation for themselves.

I read that some medieval Jewish demonologists believed that there were demons that haunted toilets. Maybe they were right, and the cats are trying to protect us from those demons. Or maybe they are just hoping that a rat or spider might come up through the toilet, and be fun to chase.

Seriously, kittens can drown in a toilet. It’s probably best to keep the lids down when the toilets are not in use if you have kittens. We still keep the lids down, to keep our adult cats from drinking out of the toilets. I wouldn’t use 2000 Flushes or a similar toilet-cleaning product that stays in the toilet in a house with cats, either- better safe than sorry.

I keep the toilet lid down when the toilet is not in use because cats DO like to drink from it, and one of our cats is a confirmed klutz. I am sure that Klutzy Kat would fall into the toilet sooner or later, and emerge, dripping toilet water, to ZOOM around the house. Also, I just prefer to flush toilets with the lid closed. It’s a tad more sanitary.

I’ve gotten one of the two use to being held. And they’re starting to get really affectionate now. And at least one of them, if up on my desk or my wife’s, if he sees the computer screen will swipe at the mouse pointer or anything else that’s moving.

One of them did that yesterday and even when I didn’t do anything he kept staring at the screen waiting for something to happen. So I turned off the monitor. He then looked under and to the side of the monitor wondering where everything went. It was kind of funny.

Cute. One of my cats watches hockey - she gets on the table in front of the TV and will track a player for a while, but if he skates off the edge of the screen, she gets rather confused and goes looking behind the TV for him! She must wonder where we keep all the tiny hockey players!

Way too cute for words.

The appropriate lolcat - If you close it, they will come.

The two cats might be less affectionate because they’re socialized to each other rather than to humans. Like everyone else says, I think they’ll grow to include the humans in their social circle.

They’re getting more affectionate, but they’re still not to social yet. But I know that will come in time. Well, actually, they’re plenty social if you have good smelling food. Then they love being you.

One of ours lives by the rule, “if a human consumes it, it’s worth checking out.” Problem is, that she never remembers from one day to the next what I like and she doesn’t. For example, every morning when I enjoy my coffee, she insists (meows, purrs, rubbing on legs, jumping in my lap, getting near my mug) on getting at least a sniff. One sniff, and she remembers that she hates coffee, and leaves me alone.

This has been going on for at least eight years now. She hasn’t yet figured that when I roll out of the rack and the sun comes in that window, that the mug with steam coming out of it that I put up to my mouth contains something she will not enjoy. But I guess she keeps hoping that it will someday contain some sort of meat drink.

Oops, a little late now, but that was obviously supposed to read “They love being around you.” :o
