Happy Generic Day '04!

Well folks, it is time for the second ever Generic Day. I feel it is time for me to explain a few things in hopes that I can spread the joy of this occasion. Here is a list of FAQ that no one has ever asked me. Please add your own and I may be of assistance!

What is Generic Day?
Generic Day is a day set aside to act as a black hole for the horribly generic aspects of other holidays. It is a day in which we act as generic as possible as to avoid things such as trinkets, cheap plastic decorations, light up Jesuses, tinted beer, and defecation of animals on other holidays. By being generic on this one day I hope to remove all the modern calcium deposits which have gathered on holidays. Things such as those generic pre-made baskets at Easter, generic 25 per box valentines on Valentines day, and generic light-up deer that gather by the dozens in peoples yards come Christmas time. Generic day strives to throw as much as possible in one day so that everyone may get back to the traditions and true meanings of holidays.

When is Generic Day?
Generic Day was something that was hard to be generic about. When in the world is the perfect day to be generic? Well, as it turns out, April was chosen as the best month. What day in April? We were so confused before it dawned on us that such a day must not be steadfast, it should change from one year to the next. That is why we thought that Generic Day should be celebrated on the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and so on, day of the month depending on the year. We also decide that the most happy and generic day possible would be a Friday. That is why Generic Day is every Nth Friday in April. It just so happens that this year it shall be the 3rd Friday in April, where as it was the 2nd Friday last year and shall be the 4th the next year.

How do I celebrate Generic Day?
By being generic as possible, of course. It is a time to create traditions among life-long friends and family members. You can do whatever you feel is necessary in order to participate. Our tradition usually consists of the Extinguishing of the Generic Cake (decorated with a generic amount of holiday icons) with the Generic Pepperoni Roll, the Christmas Ornament Hunt, a Generic Form of Entertainment, and our newest tradition which is the Destruction of a Paper Mache Icon from a different holiday which we shall determine later. First and foremost, however, is to just have fun and enjoy times with friends and family all the while venting your anger from horribly generic modern trends of holidays.

Have fun, be safe, and HAPPY GENERIC DAY!
