Happy/Merry HalloThanksMas The MMP

Guess what I get to go do! I get to go to Staples! I get to buy binders and those little tabby/divider thingies! Ok, so I could get somebody else to go, but Ima use it as an excuse to leave outta here a little early. Besides I know what I want and I’d just have to explain it to anybody else, so it’s easier for me to go do it. That’s my excuse. Pretty good ain’t it?

For the non-Amurrkin cool kids, Staples is an office supply store that carries a whole bunch of everything related to office supplies. The folks at my local Staples are nice too.

Tomorrow is all about getting revisions to the dreaded Policies and Procedures Manual AKA THE EVIL all copied and hole punched and ready for the biiiiiiiiig meeting Friday afternoon. In addition, I am preparing for the biiiiiiiiig management team meeting on Monday where we shall discuss our upcoming (three weeks until) accreditation review ad nauseum along with lots of other stuff.

Oh well, at least it ain’t mops, boxes and bags.

I’ve spoken to my daughter twice this morning. She’s beginning to feel much better. Being a typical mommy, I asked when was the last time she uhhh…pooed. I could just see her rolling her eyes through the phone wires.
At any rate, she has managed to eat something. I told her to drink LOTS of liquids.

I’m sure she’ll be back in school tomorrow.

I am having a very difficult time staying warm. I am wearing a long sleeved blouse (camisole underneath) and a wool zip cardigan type sweater, but I am fuh-reeeeeezing!

Time to put my morning report out now…

I am so confused.

nava -how many times do I have to tell you? If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all…(or come sit next to me). I, too, am a bit concerned about “nervous beef” (is that like mad cow?)
Mika -sorry you’re feeling down or sick. Is was Diwali, no? You celebrate Diwali, no? Did I mix up my countries of origin and religions? Hope not. (can’t figure out why you’re surprised to see your name that’s all).

I just did an hour’s worth of yard work. Did a body good. Gorgeous out there, but I love fall. Worked a bit on my paper today as well. [del]Read a murder mystery[/del] er, cleaned a bathroom…

Calling gardentraveler. Please report to thread!

Bread’s just about done. The ciabatta-like stuff turned out, but the whole wheat with walnuts might be heavy. Oh, well. It’ll be good toast.

Taters it could have been worse. You could have asked your daughter that question in front of a bunch of her friends. I should adopt a humanlet. I’d make such a great father.

You can adopt me, Swampus! 'Cept I think I’m older than you. That would be a tad, um, odd, I guess. Maybe you could just be my Uncle Swampy…

I forgot to tell y’all - tomorrow is my birthday! I’ll be 48. That’s not that old, is it? At least I’m not <gasp> 50! Yet…

I’ll be making my own birthday cake - carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. That there Betty Crocker sure knows how to make a cake mix, lemme tell ya! And I don’t know what we’re doing for dinner tomorrow. I might cook - we might go out. Depends. But my birthday will be celebrated Saturday at the Texas RenFest. 'Twill be fun!

I have been waking up early for work my entire adult life and I still can’t get the hang of it (always tired until about 9 or 10 o’clock in the morning). You got my vote for sleeping in instead of working out, if it means anything.

Well I was trying to …

Oh, nevermind. Bob beat me to it.

We’re cleaning out a room full of old products we can’t sell. I am now the proud owner of four display sets containing over one hundred lighters.

Ok, back, but only briefly.

Thans everyone for all the hugs, and those of you who haven’t checked in yet, be prepared to be greeted with a hug by me soon as you walk in.

We pulled off a charity event this week, which is why I haven’t had time to post. 250 + rich, snotty people; trying to get money from them is like pulling teeth - from an enraged cheetah.

We did really badly. I mean, there’s no way about it. Here’s the deal - we covered our expenses and MORE THEN. So we didn’t lose any money. We didn’t make our budget, which was compeltely unrealistic anyway so see if I care. The only thing that faintly bothers me is we didn’t get a year-over-year increase.

But you know how much it bothers me? Well, I’ve started my job hunt again, that’s how much. I am tired of this place.

Right now I am beat. I was out working hard until midnight last night, then went back into work again this morning. They did let us out at 2 PM, though, and so I did one of my favorite things - cooked up some cheese blintzes.

You see, the SO also has a very stressful week. It’s top-secret (not really, but it does have to do with privacy laws and HEPA at his job - he’s the person who makes sure everyone follows HEPA and now it’s his turn to be checked up on).

So, tired as I am, I still enjoy cooking certain things, and cheese blintzes happen to be one of them. They come out really good, too, I suppose you could call it one of my “signature dishes”. I guess all those rotis I cooked gave me good practice in making the crepes, which is the hardest part anyway.

Friday was indeed Diwali, and I asked for and received a Chococat contact lens case as well as a movie. Also a friend of mine has promised me Robot Chicken.

Every muscle in my body aches and I could really go for a massage. Any takers?

Rigs, you definitely got it right. Diwali is a predominantly Hindu festival but it’s similar to Christmas in that even ex-Hindus like myself enjoy celebrating it. Let’s see…good food, good sweets, dancing, fireworks, and lights. What more could you ask for?

Anyway I will try to check back in later this week. I {{heart}} all you guys!

So the business next to us – those with the broken windows – are finally wising up and installing a security camera and a bright halogen light. They’ve been at it all day, testing and checking placement and so on. So, right above the side entrance they’ve installed the light. They also installed one around the corner where the side windows are. (The building’s front area has an indent where some cars can park, and that’s where the windows are) So far, so good. Now they have just finished installing the security camera, pointed out towards the street and in the general direction (but not within line of sight) of the vandal-prone windows.

The camera is to the left of, and parallel with, the light. It is facing right.

In other words, it’s pointing at the light. The bright, shiny new halogen light.

:smack:

“Goddammit! Windows are broken again, and just when we think we’ve got the guy on film, all we got was footage of a giant white orb on a black background! Would somebody please tell me what the hell went wrong here?”

{{{mika}}}

And everyone, this is my Chococat. he’s a character from Sanrio, who also makes Hello Kitty, but I like this since it’s less annoyingly pink. The contacts lens case has his picture on it, and I also have a Choco-Head doll as well as a couple of other small things. Just my streak of anoying cuteness, I suppose. But I do try making new clothes for him before I start on myself. He doesn’t mind it if his legs look like sausages when I put the new pants on.
Too much anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am sick. My sinuses are killing me, and I can’t breathe. It is not normal to be short of breath when one is sitting at a computer. I really wish I had health insurance.

Mr. SCL said Black Magic can come live with us. I am so excited! I will be posting lots of pics.

I don’t feel good.

Haha, that’s exactly what mine says even though it’s a different drug.

What’s wrong with meeks?? Did I miss something? I am sorry, whatever it is.

kai, I saw the most delicious shade of peach on HGTV that I wanted for my living room. Mr. Anachi and I decided on a color that most resembled it and took the paint home. It turned into the most hideous orange color on our walls. :stuck_out_tongue: We went back to the drawing board and now the living room is more of a cafe au lait.

I am almost done with billing. That’s not to say that it is in any way, shape, or form, accurate. ::dizzy smiley:: (Actually, I feel fairly well in comparison to yesterday.)

drae, you’ll never run out now.

{{Meeks}} and {{Snakes}}

I give great massages! Come on down!

Have I mentioned lately I hate Surbanes-Oaxley?
I need a drink but I’m going home to be purred at instead

rosie, call it SOX, as in dirty SOX. Works wonders. I don’t hate it, it paid my salary for 3 years, but I sure am sick of it.

Speaking of paint, my bedroom ceiling is flaking badly, proving once and for all that my landlord’s method of “painting” is to slap a new coat over the old one. The bedroom was once a peachy-pink, a kind of turquoise and various shades of cream/eggshell/beige, and I think, a baby blue. The paint’s about 1/4" thick. At this point the walls would disintegrate if you tried to take the paint off.

Cake was chocolate, with chocolate frosting. I’ll just leave my piece here, for someone who will appreciate it.

What is Surbanes Oaxley when it’s at home?

(it sounds like an exclusive all girls boarding school to me).

Sorry for your bad week, Mika --but I love that chocolate kitty! He’s so cute!

Off to class and to take my son to fencing, so I’ll miss some class. And d’ya know what?

I don’t care.

nothing. I was bitching from work. I blame Enron. It’s all their fault.
But I’m now and the realtor is showing the apt to a prospective tenant. They’ve shown it about a dozen times since availability but so far no bites. I may have to lower the asking rent. I need the income - it’s almost tax bill time.
