That was going to be the point I made, thanks for beating me to it. Remember, this was 4 (or 5?) people with rocks, within 20 feet of one man. Throwing rocks. It’s really easy to maim or kill someone at that distance with just one well-placed stone.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around a meter maid packing heat. I seem to recall, or maybe I’m imagining it or making it up (seems to be a theme here), the occasional meter maid being threatened with a knife or something because some hot head didn’t feel he was parked to close to the fire hydrant or some dumb thing, but not to the point that the parking authority would arm them.
But they are enforcing laws, so I guess that makes them Law Enforcement Officers. Not to the degree of a patrolman or border guard, but LEOs nonetheless.
If she would have shot the little bastard she probably wouldn’t have had all of these problems. The article states that she was being pelted with water balloons and rocks. Her response apparently wasn’t deemed justified by the authorities. Why wasn’t it considered self defense?

I was having coffee this morning at a local Guadalajara breakfast place. Someone left a copy of The Herald – Mexico, an English language paper published by the Miami Herlad in Mexico.
The front page had an article on the shooting and one paragraph contained the following quote:
“approval by the US House of Representatives of a bill …along the border with Mexico, makes illegal immigration a crime — it is currently a civil offense…”
Has it been resolved whether Clothahump is happy?

Either the paper is referring to the act of remaining in the United States illegally – which is, in fact, not criminal – or they are simply wrong.
A person that enters legally, but overstays their visa, is not commiting a criminal act.
A person who ENTERS illegally is committing a criminal act.
Without more of a quote to judge, it’s unclear to me whether the paper is simply wrong, or merely sloppily relating the current state of the law.

If we are going to use this, then I suppose we should know if the Border Patrol was throwing water balloons at the illegal immigrants, who then retaliated with rocks.
Maybe if the Border Patrol just shot all the bastards, they wouldn’t have all these problems.
