Happy Pi Day everyone!!!

I had my calculus students bake pies and bring them in, together with review sheets wherein the answers to the problems are the amounts of the ingredients in the pies. A good time was had by all.

Cool linky there, cmyk.

My son reported that only the math teacher understood being wished Happy Pi Day, he got blank stares from the rest.

Why in the world can’t it be Pi and Steak&BJ day simultaneously? Unless you have some horrific American Pie type of accident, that is.

Not to threadshit, but shouldn’t Pi day be 22/7? I’d say that’s more accurate…

Should I even admit it’s my wedding anniversary? Of course, with our usual timing, it’s also the day the kids are coming home for spring break.

But us Yanks would write it 7/22 and get all confused.

I got fourth place in a pi recitation contest at the math department’s party. It was out of eight contestants, so it wasn’t that impressive (the winner had >190, I think), but I got a shiny new Rubik’s cube.

Oh, so that’s why I kept telling myself all day that there was something I was supposed to remember about 3/14. I figured I just forgot to pay another bill and I haven’t been online all day until now and pi day is almost over.

Oh well, I have a cat named Pi and I hugged him earlier so that should be good enough.

12:15 a.m., restate my assumptions. 1) Mathematics is the language of nature.

Raven Pi
A ridiculously difficult mnemonic!

I tried to convince my bf that pi day was real but he didn’t get it and thought I was being weird. (Oddly, he’s the former math major too.) Well, this morning we were at Baker’s Square and to prove that I’m the only one who would think up such a holiday he asked the cashier if the restaurant was very busy yesterday.

The cashier said that they were pretty packed since they opened. They ran out of pies, baked more, and ran out of those. They moved a lot of pies yesterday. Showed the bf up, it did.
