It seems every year, I start off yet another Happy Pi Day thread - so here I am starting this one.
For those of you not familiar with Pi Day, it is March 14th which is 03/14 (if you don’t live in the United Kingdom).
Anyway, 03/14 with just a slight manipulation becomes 3.14 - the first three digits of pi.
And if Pi Day isn’t cerebral enough, March 14th happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday.
Okay, all you folks celebrating Pi Day, come join this thread.
for my 8 am Algebra class, I am bringing an apple and a cherry Pie.
Apple has the Pi symbol: Cherry is adorned with 22/7. Happy Pi Day!
I’ll be wearing this shirt.
Fifth grade daughter is competing with fellow students: whoever recites the most digits of pi wins a pie. The recipient has the choice to eat it or to toss it at her teacher. The poor child has a dilemma on her hands: permission to smash a pie in the teacher’s face is a rare opportunity, but it’s Oreo pie! Decisions, decisions! (Last I heard before bedtime, she was up to 118 decimal places.)
When come back, bring…
No, even I’m not that lame.
And in 37 minutes, it will be 3.14159! <3
The UK is far from the only country where days are customarily written before months, but thank you for celebrating my aunt’s birthday.
Those of us who use the day/month sequence need to wait until the 31st of April to have a date with “314” in that order.
Hang on …
:smack:
3.14…
And I thought I got there first… Damn.
Brought some pie to school to share with my math department. Hooray for Pi! (And I’m such a math nerd sometimes – do you realize in 3 years it will be 3.14 of 15?)
I tried wishing my friends a happy Pi Day but they accused me of being Americentric and claimed all the cool kids celebrate it on April 31st. I accused them of trying to suck all the joy out of the world.
I did that most cliched of things — I clicked the wrong button and merged the wrong thread into this one. :smack: Your patience while we clean up Aisle 4.
Ellen
I’m trying to post all the pi facts I know on Facebook. My friend count hasn’t dropped. Yet.
That’s not all it is – which I’m definitely in favor of. After all, it’s not every day that I get steak.
it could happen, February got an extra day this year.
How about starting a petition to move Leap Day to Apr 31st; you’ve got four years to succeed.
Pi is a lie, hence I celebrate tau day.
It would be more accurately rounded in four years.
3.14159 would round up to 3.1416, or 3/14/16.
