How do you feel about the smell of hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator?
I don’t like the smell, but I like to eat them.
I don’t smell them, because I have them in a container. If they are peeled, they need to be covered so that they don’t get rubbery. If they are not peeled, they don’t have a smell.
What weird thing is ma doing with her eggs??
I boil them & eat them immediately. In 50+ years I don’t think I’ve ever seen (or smelled) a hard boiled egg in a refrigerator.
Wrong they do have a smell if not peeled. Every year she makes colored eggs that nobody eats and they stink up the refrigerator and give the food an off taste for a couple months. Let’s not discuss her inability to toss food please.
I peel them in cold water immediately after cooking, then refrigerate them in a container with a lid. They’re not uncovered long enough to smell.
I don’t notice that they have much of a smell while still in their shells, and I don’t know why an unshelled one would be in the fidge for more than an hour or two anyway.
This time of year we have a couple dozen unshelled in the fridge, all different bright pretty colors, just like our fingers.
I agree. I’ve never noticed a smell, so I can’t vote.
I don’t remember ever smelling hard boiled eggs in the fridge. Sometimes hubby will make some, and he keeps them in a separate carton. Maybe that hides the smell?
I am not surprised about ma and not tossing old eggs however.
Ma keeps them in the cartons after coloring. She’s taking them away for Easter dinner and plans on people eating them. This hasn’t worked the last couple times she tried this. They come back that night. Maybe I can get ham dog to chew them up a little. Put the bowl on the floor don’t you know.
I like your plan!
I was just complaining not an hour ago that the tea smelled like eggs. There are 18 boiled, colored eggs in the fridge. Maybe it has something to do with the dye? I don’t always notice it but then again I rarely keep boiled eggs in a carton long. They’re usually eaten within the day.
One of the nastiest smells in the whole frikkin’ universe. gag
How many do you boil at a time? I love 'em, so when I make 'em, I make as many as will fit in the pot, which is, depending on the egg size, 14-17. I inevitably eat two or three right out of the cold water bath, and have a dozen, minimum, in the fridge.
I voted for delectable, I love it, etc, but frankly, the aroma doesn’t permeate the other food, it just smells nice when I open the fridge.
