Hard Disk

How do i find out what is the brand and rpm of my hard disk?

Barring physical removal of the disk i mean. Is there any way?

I recently got my hard disk changed and to what i’m trying to find out. All i know is that it is 40gb and is an IDE one.

How can i find out more info? Thanks for replies!

usually you can go into BIOS and see what kind it is. I know I can.

During POST you can see the names and configurations of IDE devices just before it starts loading Windows. As for rpm specs, i don’t know unless you check the literature that it came with or read the label on the drive itself. Ask the place that installed it for you.

Which OS?

In windows XP if you open My Computer, right click on the drive in question and go to Properties¦Hardware it should give you a make and serial number. Go to the manufacturers website and look up that serial no.

Far easier to open the case and have a look.
