Did you report those posts?
Yes. He told me shut up about it. I am paraphrasing
They are verging on trolling. They were evicted from the thread and then started reporting borderline posts. Which I did modnote later. This poster in a very short time is generating a lot of flags, a warning and probably several modnotes, not sure, no tracking.
Two flags of posts that did not obey the mod note. The same mod note that got me a warning.
Two flags. Not a lot of flags.
Wildly and inaccurately “paraphrasing.”
Yep I agree. Why does what exit attempt to accomplish by this?
Two flags. Who is wildly paraphrasing?
When they say “generating” that doesn’t mean that you were reporting, it means you were being reported.
The warning posted in this thread
… was issued in error and will be rescinded. The OP may well be jumping to conclusions or flat out wrong about what Biden’s executive order requires, but neither of those things is against our rules. In particular, the post doesn’t constitute trolling, which is purposely posting inflammatory remarks. No doubt some people disagreed with the OP’s remarks, but they weren’t purposely inflammatory. Since discussions of trans issues are often fraught, we’ll be posting guidance about this later. For now we urge all posters to remain civil and refrain from intemperate remarks.
Why don’t we just do all sports like boxing. Heavyweights don’t fight lightweights. Take a rough approximation of each humans athletic prowess and put them in same league.
This gets me a warning and a ban from the thread. For not obeying the mod note.
Ok
Glad to see you back. BTW, I am re-reading all the Cecil Adams books. Damn I miss that fantastic rapier like wit. And the answers are cool too…
Thank you! I appreciate the rules based modding and the explanation.
Someone explain why this post was worthy of thread ban.
And numerous other posts that ignored the mod note, that all things must be focused on the Executive Order, have not. And continues.
Modding: OK, you’re suspended awaiting a decision on your posting privileges.
What you put in the post was never at issue. It was the way she attacked everyone who diagreed with her as hating women.
You can’t make useful decision when you ignore the post that led to the Warning.
And, yes, I know you, Ed, were probably not part of the decison making process. I’m replying to those who made the decision. The logic given here ignores the actual issue of disingenuous posting that is what trolling is.
Correction to my previous post. I said nothing in the post was in contention, but I was looking at the overall point and not the details.
The part I quoted is indeed in contention. The strawman she created in the post she was actually Warned for was in fact in fact inflammatory. Accusing those who support trans rights as thinking women’s sports doesn’t matter is a clear attack.
There are also other signs, like her use of “biological males” in the title when her argument was about trans girls. And the microaggressions @Kimstu mentioned. Even if any one of these isn’t sufficient on its own, the combination points to deliberately being inflammatory.
And that’s without considering her past history, which is similar to YWTF who wound up with a topic ban on this particular subject.
We have, as I said before, been able to discuss this very topic without all this contention, because people would choose to be respectful. It’s not the topic that creates the issue.
Look, be happy Ed didn’t ban any words . . . yet.
For a two day old poster you seem awfully conversant with board lingo like “thread ban”.
When i join a new board i generally try to feel out the rules and stuff before i start fights with moderators.
Using this forum for it’s intended purpose isn’t really picking a fight. Interjecting personal commentary that reflects ideological bias while moderating is not a good look and the complaints are valid. If you all aren’t clear on what is and isn’t trolling I wouldn’t be so quick to jump on regular posters who aren’t privy to the fine distinctions and have to guess at what the rules are.
