You’ve probably seen John Cho in American Pie, where he invented the term “MILF”, in reference to Stifler’s mom. He’ll be playing Sulu in the upcoming Star Trek movie.
Where he will invent the term “OSGILF” in reference to an Orion Slave Girl.
“ILF” is redundant in reference to Orion slave girls.
::hangs head:: I never saw any American Pie movies.
But it was that character who invented the term? I’m impressed!
Really, it’s not worth it.
I will never underestimate the power of product placement. However it was White Castle for a reason. White Castle is drunk food (I’m assuming it also works for stoners). No one around here at 2am says, “Lets go to Burger King.” It’s always White Castle. I don’t think I ever had White Castle while sober. Take my word for it, I’m from Jersey.
As for the geography, They go to New Brunswick and find the White Castle closed so they decide to go all the way to Cherry Hill. There is a White Castle in Green Brook and another in South Plainfield, both less than 10 miles away from New Brunswick. And as far as I know there has never been a White Castle in New Brunswick. There is something better in Highland Park, just across the Raritan River from New Brunswick. The White Rose System has what is basically giant White Castle Sliders served by ex-cons.
MILF was a well-known term long before American Pie, but the movie certainly popularized it.
Yeah I heard that term at least 15 years ago.
checks date for American Pie damn it’s almost ten years old now?
I disagree. American Pie was a good movie. This generation’s Animal Huose, really. The sequels got progressively worse, but the first was solid.
I didn’t like Animal House either.
Think I’ll give the American Pie movies a pass.
mind boggles
Wait…wha?
…
…I feel all…all cold…
I’ve been to that joint a couple of times, back when I was living in Highland Park! When it’s late and you’re hungry and you absolutely, positively refuse to do any cooking (or you’ve got nothin’ to eat anyway), there’s the White Rose… and their very basic, yet curiously satisfying pork roll sandwiches.
There’s also that 24-hour diner not far from there on Rt. 1 South, just north of the bridge over the Raritan. But they serve “real” food, albeit diner food, so it might not satisfy those post-midnight urges for really crappy and cheap fast food.
Wow, i liked Animal House. I don’t think American Pie was remotely at the same level though.
American Pie was pretty good, one of the better high school/college comedies in a while, but Animal House or Fast Times were probably the best ever. I actually like
Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle better than American Pie.
Jim
If you say so.
We’ll have to agree to disagree. I thought American Pie was drivel at best.
No problem, I won’t defend American Pie, but compared to most of the insipid late 90s Teen and College movies I thought American Pie was at least a throw back to the 70s and 80s and had some funny stuff.
If I was compiling a list of movies in the genre or sub-group, American Pie would not rate very high, but for movies made after 1995 it might be second or third.
That was all I was trying to say. Hopefully this clears it up. Actually this might be an interesting thread topic, maybe I will start one.

The American film rating “R” is described as “Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.” The Australian rating “MA 15+” is described as “Persons under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.” The Australian R appears to be more in line with the American NC-17 (formerly X)- no children, period, even with adult supervision- adults only! It appears to me, based on looking on the official Australian classification website, that no cuts were made to the Australian version.
And I’ll add my name to the long list of “not a fan of stoner movies, but I like this” list. I like the fact that the two leads are minorities and they poke fun at some stereotypes- not seen a lot in films these days.

I can’t let this thread sink below the horizon without quoting my favorite line.
KUMAR: Shotgun! Anus!
Yep that is Edison. Surprisingly that diner is the Edison Diner. I had lunch there last Wednesday.
