Harris VP choice as she is the official presidential nominee of the Democratic Party for 2024

If she picks Pete, she’s got my vote.

But if she doesn’t pick Pete, does she not get your vote? Because that’s all that matters. I just can’t see what voters Buttigieg would bring to the ticket that Harris isn’t going to get anyway.

I haven’t gotten any fundraising stuff from Walz at all. Only Shapiro and Kelly.

Do LGBT folks vote? I tried google for an answer, but the only thing I saw said that 21% of them are not even registered to vote. If Pete would encourage that group, I wonder if that could be significant?

Announcing in Philly has to mean either Pete or Shapiro though, right?

No.

Again, Pete hasn’t even been vetted. He is not in consideration.

It will either be Walz, Kelly or Shapiro and the location is irrelevant.

I don’t think she’s necessarily announcing in Philly. That’s just where she’s kicking off her swing state tour next week.

Ah, thanks. Would Pete have been vetted for his current position or no?

Well, registration rates for the population-at-large was 69.1% in 2022, and 72.7% in 2020 - so that segment is already ahead of the curve.

Correct. She will probably announce this weekend.

Probably and irrelevant. They have not asked him to be part of the process. This vetting is completely different.

Oh thanks, I didn’t know he was off the list. The last time I remember seeing a list of options, he and Whitmer and even Cooper were still on it. I am out of date.

Beshear is the only VP hopeful who has hit me up.

He said yes when he was on the Daily Show. But this might go further. His record is totally clean, though, I believe.

If they dig deep enough they might find out he sleeps with (a) men.

Good catch, I didn’t recognize the author as a political operative, and it looks like it’s not new info. I was glum about it because I really, really like the idea of someone with a science background as VP.

I’ve also seen some mollifying things about Shapiro (and thanks for the “PA is not the Midwest” corrections ) Who’s Afraid of Josh Shapiro? - The Atlantic

I still think Kelly would be a good pick, but I am loving the genuine warmth of Walz. And it looks like the pick is likely to be a sitting Governor: evidently there are some remaining campaign finance rules that prompted the Harris campaign to alert some donors that now is the time to send money.

Earlier this year I was in Central PA consulting. I said something about how we’re in the Midwest and they immediately corrected me and gave me shit about it for the rest of my trip.

Worse, I heard he has two children with this man. I mean, come on, how does that even work???

Seriously, if you didn’t see him with Jon Stewart on Monday, it was great.

Right now the hashtag BigDadEnergy is trending on Threads in regard to Tim Walz. Wholesome little Minnesota-nice statements like:

Tim Walz practices your pronouns in the mirror because “it’s new to him” but he wants to make sure you feel loved.
BigDadEnergy

Tim Walz says “Hi Gay, I’m Dad. Lol I love you no matter what” when his kids come out.
BigDadEnergy

Tim Walz is holding up a sign that says, “We all do better, when we all do better.” When asked what does that mean, he says, “Oh, ya know.” BigDadEnergy

When Tim Walz sees you approaching, he grins and says: “Here comes trouble!” BigDadEnergy

Tim Walz asks his kids if they have walking around money and when they tell him they’re fine he proceeds to slip them a couple of twenties from his wallet anyways. BigDadEnergy

When Tim Walz goes to a baseball game, during the seventh inning stretch, he stands up, stretches, and fake yawns like he just woke up. BigDadEnergy

Walz is organically trending, which I love. Especially when the other ticket is trending over sofa humping and dolphin porn and being weird.

That’s a real shame, but that does count as a “skeleton” to me. I mean it’s bullshit, Trump and his minions have probably shilled for way dodgier companies this morning (have you seen the hucksters that advertise on Maga media outlets?). But its just a bit of “but what about…” ammunition for when Harris calls out Trump on his numerous scams like Trump University.

So I’d say it rules him out. Things are just too close right now.

Big deal- that is so minor. Remember, that is a legit company.

I think it is unusually clean, But there always is something for oppo research to find. For example:

Pete Buttigieg Fired South Bend’s Black Police Chief

It would seemingly be hard for Trump or Vance to use this with effect. But how sure am I?

The general problem with vetting is that you do not know how skillful the other side will be with using the identified candidate weaknesses.
