I dont agree. The bigots already vote MAGA.
and why not Kelly? Great choice there.

And obviously my in their shoe WAG is that what the candidate says will be her policy moving forward (and the running mate supporting those positions) matters more than the fact the VP’s past positions.
Here’s the thing though. Neither you nor I know or have done focus group testing or have access to targeted polling. I suspect Team Harris does and the decision she makes will be aware of that information.
If you are right then they have the data that supports such and will be more likely to go with Walz. A choice I will be thrilled with. If your assessment is off base then likely their additional data will show that too and Shapiro is a more probable selection. I will also be happy with that, especially because I think it allows her more space to be more hard nosed with Bibi which I think is in the best of interest of Gazans and in Israel’s best interest, both.
Only so many hours to know though!
ETA that you do realize that was something Shapiro did nearly three decades ago?
You are all assuming Kelly is out, and that has not been shown.
Despite the fact that he looks way older, Kelly is only five years or so older than Kamala. She ages well.
She should just choose Steve Bullock.
They were, in fact, born the same year, 1964.
Son of a B. You.re right. Looks like Harris, Kelly and Walz were all born in 64. She really ages well.
Kelly, if still in has advantages for the Sun Belt options. Assuming he’s out for discussion sake, between Walz and Shapiro who plays better in Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia, and why?
Good point.
Reuters says that three anonymous sources agree it is narrowed to just the two, but the New York Times doesn’t seem convinced. Since I pay for the Times to gives me their judgment, I guess I should follow it.
If she picks Shapiro, I will assume it is someone thinking they are being super unbiased and intellectual - at the risk of ignoring the very real emotional impact of their decision. As noted above - will be an unforced error.
Flip between Walz and Shapiro over on Predictit as of 4:40pm Central.
Walz as high as 67% in the last few minutes (up from 28% at the start of the day). I haven’t heard any news so I’m guessing the wild fluctuations going on are sharetraders acting on their gut instincts.
Interesting! I wonder what provoked it?
Ah, it looks like scrolling through the cesspool of comments at the bottom of that page, somebody named Chris LaCivita (a Don-OLD staffer apparently) tweeted that “according to his sources, Harris is not picking Shapiro”.
Trump’s co-campaign manager.
You know who would be a savvy pick at this point? Beshear. Everyone’s developed a strong opinion of the two front runners over the past week (Kelly too), and a good chunk of her supporters are gonna feel a little stung if the “other guy” gets the nod. But Beshear has flown a bit more under the radar. I don’t see many stories about him and very little cheerleading on socials for him. People here have been largely indifferent toward him too. He’s a quiet dark horse with a lot of positives.
He’s a moderate without Shapiro’s baggage, he can connect with rural and labor voters without Walz’s progressive label. Plus he’s young.
I still want Walz, but a Beshear pick might lessen the sting from him not being the pick
So one of the few people Harris confided her pick to is wildly disloyal?
Or maybe the phones in the DNC were tapped by Republicans. I’m old enough to recall it happening before (Watergate burglary).
But my guess is that it’s wishful thinking.
P.S. Chris LaCivita is not just a staffer – he is the co-campaign manager with Susie Wiles.
P.P.S. I question whether LaCivita really said this. Googling does not find it in mainstream media.
I think people here are vastly overestimating how much swing voters care about the vice president opinion on foreign policy.
FWIW Walz is not all that loved by those with anti Israel sentiments either.
His actual positions on Israel and Gaza are virtually the same as Shapiro’s.
FWIW.
Agreed.
Plus, for each of those few voters that care in one direction, there will be almost as many who care in the other direction.
Will the election be so close that everything matters? Polls are not accurate enough to ever know that in advance, but — maybe.
I’d say the VP doesn’t matter much for a campaign, then I remember Sarah Palin.
