Harrison Ford fighting style

So I was curious if you guys had ever noticed this:

Is it just me, or does Harrison Ford have a distinct fighting style in all of his movies?

Firstly, he seems to block a lot of punches with his face. I mean most of the time he sits there and waits for it to come in.

Secondly there is always some kind of diving tackle involved. I’m not sure of why there’s this either.

Thirdly he seems go reeling from everything that’s done to him. He’s constantly pin-balling off the walls with arms flailing everywhere.

Good examples of this would be the Fugitive, any Jack Ryan and Air Force One.

Got any other observations of things to add?

The reason why I bring this up is that I have a friend who pointed these things out, and ever since I’ve noticed this, it makes watching a Harrison Ford movie much more enjoyable.

 Not the most effective fighting style, perhaps, but he does seem to employ that method a lot.

this video has a pretty good summary of it

Harrison Ford is not a graceful man. There are certain people who can fight or fall or even run in such a way as to look cinematically beautiful. But he ain’t one of 'em. He has a very clumsy and staccato way of reacting. It almost looks like he played rugby as a kid or something.

I think it’s supposed to convey that he’s not a skilled streetfighter, but an ordinary man pushed to the brink. His desperation makes up for lack of training.

I’ve always noticed his slightly hunchbacked running style, and wandered if it was ingrained as a child or a product of his back surgeries in the 80s.

Sir Rhosis

When I saw this thread title, I immediately flashed on an image of Ford standing with his right arm drawn back as though about to deliver a blow. But instead of having his fist at, say, the level of his ear with the back of the hand parallel to the floor, it is lifted up above his head and his fist is turned, like you would do if you were holding a hammer and about to smash something with it. Maybe his years as a carpenter informed his fighting style?

Yep, he runs funny. I never noticed it in any of the Star Wars movies but it’s there in “Clear and Present Danger”. If I had an RPG shot at me I be takin’ 40 foot steps! That scene has him looking like his pants were falling down as he took the first step. My vote is for the surgery.
