Wow, Harrison Ford is really not keen on Star Wars...

…is he?

I just saw him on Conan O’Brien’s show and two things struck me.

  1. He’s really not into the whole Star Wars thing and seems to not want to be associated any more.

  2. Man, he’s gotten OLD. Not just aging as he should, but acting and moving old.

The Conan O’Brien show is a comedy show. Ford is an actor who can pretend to feel emotions convincingly. They made a joke about Ford being tired of Star Wars. It’s been a long while since I’m watch the COS but that’s exactly the type of deprecating comedy I know it for.

I hope I act and move as old as him when/if I’m 71 years old.

He’s totally bald with glasses in the Paranoia movie trailer they’ve been running for a couple weeks.

He was totally acting, and very funny about it, too!

Yeah, he was just having some fun with the bit. That said, his voice does sound oddly… aged, for lack of a better word.

He’ll always be Bob Falfa to me.

When 71 years old you are, look so good, you will not.

He looks likes a less haggard Ed O’neil.

I still like the bit he did on Kimmel…

He’ll always be Boba Fett to me. But that’s because I’m easily confused.

Not into it? Was he ever? Neither was Alec Guinness.
Supposedly, he wasn’t even sure he wanted to do a third film.

Ford kind of has a Swifty Lazar thing going on.

From what posters are saying this sort of reminds me of William Shatner, Startrek and “Get a Life”

Yeah, although he never went out of his way to badmouth them, since ROTJ he’s made no secret that although he was more than happy to have been involved with something that gave him so many opportunities (not to mention a few pretty fat paychecks) he knew that ultimately, from an actor’s pov, the movies were kid’s stuff and he very *very *much wanted to move on. Particularly after his huge success with Indiana Jones (still Lucas but slightly less kid stuff) he proved that he was a bankable leading man. There just wasn’t a whole lot left to do with the Han Solo character, acting-wise.

BTW, Alec Guinness didn’t want to do any more partly because he was an old school classically trained thespian and these were rather silly films, but also because he had absolutely no need to. He was the only member of the original cast to see the first film’s potential and he opted for points instead of a salary. Smart move! I was glad to see Ford be there for the AFI tribute to Lucas. The look on his, Carrie Fisher’s and Mark Hamill’s faces when Shatner comes out as host is priceless…

Yeah, well, that’s sort of normal for being past 70.

Unless you’re Sean Connery. Or Christopher Lee.

Pretty much every time I’ve sean Harrison Ford on a talk show, he’s definitely had an “I hate doing this and I’m only here because my agent said I had to” vibe to him.

I guess he’d much rather focus on his work on Cowboys & Aliens and Ender’s Game.

He IS old!
Actually, I thought he was a lot funnier in those interviews than I’ve seen in the past. Even when he was younger, Ford often came across as a bit stiff and uncomfortable but with the same dry sense of humor.

I saw one interview a long time ago where the over-eager entertainment reporter asked him if he’d ever been on a set as big as the 747 mockup on Air Force One. Ford was like “you know I was Indiana Jones?”

That’s how he comes across onscreen, too. :stuck_out_tongue:

He pretty much hates the PR aspect of being a movie star. He does the rounds because he has to, and keep to the bare minimum.
