He seems a bit old for the part.
It says in the article he’s playing Hyrum Graff, the school instructor. Asa Butterfield is playing Ender Wiggin.
If they keep the opening scene of the novel without having extended narration to explain the background, Ender is not going to have the sympathy of the audience.
IMO, the film makers would do best to base the movie on the short story, with a bit of added material from the novel a required. Perhaps add in references to Ender’s sibs, so they have room for sequels. That is probably all they’ll have time for in a 90 minute flick.
I just got shivers up my spine in expectation.
Orson Scott Card can really write a great story and Ender’s Game is one helluva novel.
Ford is perfect for that role, IMHO.

IMDBlists Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham. That’s just perfect.
The article linked in the OP says that Abigail Breslin will be playing Valentine, and the IMDB page says that Jimmy ‘Jax’ Pinchak will play Peter although will not be credited.
ETA: I have no idea who either of those people are.
It’s hard for me to imagine a good movie being made from this source material, but I hope to be proven wrong.

(I hated the sequels because, while having one hyper-intelligent but very human and fallible boy was fine, having a hundred Mutant Atomic Supermen aroudn required Scott Card to surgically remove the brains from every adult in the world. And the earlier sequels, while decent for Hard Sci-Fi, were incredibly tedious and often rather stupid.)
Ford would make a good Bugger Queen.

It looks like Ben Kingsley is still “in talks” to play Mazer Rackham, but hasn’t been confirmed yet. I hope they get him!

Me too, and I liked the book. Seriously, though, it just doesn’t seem like a movie to me.
I’ve pictured these guys in my head since I was 11. My thoughts:
Looks good/hopeful: Alai, Peter, Graff, Rackham, Stilson, Bernard
Looks ok I guess: Ender, Bean
Raising doubts: Petra, Bonzo, Dink
Eww: Valentine (I’ve never seen her perform, but the look is totally off to me)
I too am not terribly convinced this will work out well in movie form. I really hope it works out, though.
