i’m watching the harry potter weekend. i like the mini interviews with the clips. so far they are saying it will be the funniest movie thus far.
wasn’t this the one where lovegood does the play by play for quiddich?

I believe so, which was funny. I’ve seen some of the mini interviews as well (it’s always jarring to remember just how much the cast has aged) and was kind of surprised at the ‘funniest’ claim as, other than Luna and a couple of other moments, it wasn’t the funniest book:
Draco’s depression and anxiety
the Sectumsempra spell
Harry dealing with his godfather’s death
Dumbledore’s burned hand
Dumbledore’s death
Dumbledore’s funeral
and other stuff. I’m wondering if they’ve added some humor that wasn’t really in the book.
I recall the book being mostly flashbacks, except for the cave scene and the end. I hope they are able to make that work as a movie. It looks like they didn’t skip Quidditch this time at least!
Yikes, that’s uncanny!
Chalk me up as another who’s trés excited, and similarly trés pissed that they pushed it back for spurious reasons. Oh well, gives me something to look forward to next year I suppose.
exactly sampiro, except for luna, i didn’t read the book as funny. i was a bit confused as well.
perhaps they meant the relationship between the main characters.
There is light relief in the charming of Ron and it looks like they’re beefing up Harry’s Chose One status as a chick magnet type thing.
Can anyone link to the min-interviews on YouTube or similar? I can’t watch the marathon today! I’d like to see those interviews (d’ya think they’d be on mugglenet or whatever–dunno the sites for HP fandom). I like the look of this new trailer.
I like the new trailer much better. IF the postponed release has led to a better film, than I’m ok with it. If it was just for some obscure reason, then I’m still pissed. (I doubt they did a whole lot with the film at this point, right? They would have wrapped up filming and “pick ups”, right? I dunno about making movies, either, so can someone help? Ta.)
Sorry, I’m a bit mixed up today. I don’t know if this was linked to already here (I think so), but here are the 5 sneak peeks from ABC. Dunno if the interviews are more in depth than this while the movie are aired.
sneakpeeks
Book 6 is hardly funny, but I think the actors mean that they do more physical comedy (and there were funny bits: Luna and Quiddich, Ron in love etc).
Looking forward to Ginny and Ron-Ginny just gets prettier every year.
Thanks for that link… didn’t have the chance to watch the HP marathon this weekend. And I agree with your last sentence wholeheartedly.
chamber of secrets is on now. they have really changed. some kids just look like smaller versions of their adult selves, others have very different grown up looks.
the guys who play neville and ron have grown into handsome young men.
:smack: I meant Ginny and Harry–what was I thinking?
You think Neville is handsome? Well, eye of the beholder and all that…
I thought you meant just seeing what their characters do separately… not any implication of incest. Fear not.
Um, sorry, but it’s all about revenue in 2009, as the studios had a very good 2008.
hhhhhmmm, i know warner bros. had lay offs this year. perhaps the money didn’t go very far.
Bastards.
I do think Neville is handsome–much more some than when he was a lump of a boy. The actor IS good looking–he has to wear prosthetic teeth for the role.
Ok, I watched GoF on ABC Family last night, waiting for something like a mini-interview to happen. One did–one I had already seen online. And I’ll never watch HP on a TV channel again–commercials and those stupid little animated characters that pop into the corners to advertise stuff are incredibly irritating.
For anyone who isn’t aware…
The field scene with Fenrir was added for the movie with Rowlings permission. I don’t know what it will consist of or anything, but I do know that it is not in the book, but was added with “permission”
I really feel like such a terrible person for saying this but…uh…
Looking from movie one to now you can see how good looking Daniel Radcliffe has gotten, Rupert Grint is reasonable enough looking (he’s a GREAT Ron), Emma Watson is friggen hot, and even Draco looks great but in the books Ginny is supposed to be this wicked beautiful girl with whom everyone wants to be with, but I just don’t see it in the actress who portrays her.
I guess I really feel bad about it but, I don’t think Ginny is growing up hot enough to be who she is in the books.
(I’m so so sorry for saying it, but it’s what I think…)
So as not to completely make anymore of an ass of myself than I feel I did with the post above I want to say this…
Writing that last post just made me realize…Ho-ly CRAP this casting is PERFECT!!!
Aside from the Rotating Dumbledore’s the cast has just been perfect to their literative (that a word?) counterparts. In looks (see above post) and acting ability, maturity, there are SO many people in these movies that are perfect for who they are in the book.
I often read books that are turned into movies…but re-reading these books is the first time I have actually put the actors in the movie in my mind as I am reading the book.
Bravo to the casting directors of the Harry Potter series…bravo indeed
Radcliffe has definitely improved - in the first couple of movies he delivered dialogue like he was reading instructions of the back of a fire extinguisher and had an emotional range of two who expressions: surprise (most of the first movie) and smiling.
I never really got that impression from Ginny in the books. I always thought that her appeal was mainly her personality and wit, and while she was good-looking, she wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous.
