Harry Potter Dead Pool

Speculation on the odds of various characters snuffing it.

Harry: 50:1
Snape: 3:1
Ron and Hermione: 100:1
Longbottom: 30:1
Hagrid: 15:1
Ginny: 75:1

And so on…

I’d actually give Snape even odds.

now, I see you have Ron and Hermoine at 100:1. Do they both have to bite it for that to pay off?

Ron and Hermione need seperate entries. Or maybe three, one for each as an individual, and for them as a couple. The odds of Rowling killing off one and leaving the other to mourn is much greater, I think, then killing them both.

Harry getting snuffed? It’s got to be part of the final duel scene with wasshisface, right? And who comes to the funeral afterwards, and why do we care at that point? Perhaps his innocence dies - or some such - but I think Harry himself survives.

Snape at even odds - I’d buy that.

Hagrid - er, fairly high on the list, if anyone’s number has got to be on it.

Malfoy hasn’t been mentioned yet - another fair possibility. Lupin’s another one.

Among the really major players, I think that Ron’s the worst insurance risk.

Hmm, the fairly early death of Aunt Petunia would leave Harry even more conflicted than he is now, especially if she died somehow defending him… hmm…

Neville, Neville, Neville. He saw his parents killed by Voldy, you know. He’s the boy that survivied. Needs to go out with a heroic, plot-twisting bang.

I thought Neville’s parents were still alive. In fact I’m fairly sure they are.

Snape, IMHO is a gonner. Ron and Hermione? I’d probably give 10 to 1 against. I just don’t see it. Hagrid? About the same (might just be emotion talking here…love that guy). Professor Magonagol (probably spelled that really badly) though…2 to 1 against. I’m putting her pretty high on the wacked list.

But I agree that there is going to be some kind of plot twist involving Neville…and that HE will be one of the ones to go. Even odds (him and Snape). I’ll be bummed…I like Neville. But if it HAS to be a major, better him than one of the big ones.

I still hold that he’s going to take out Bellatrix, but die in the process.

His parents are still alive and in St. Mungo’s.

I wouldn’t bet against that.

One of the Weasleys will die. Maximum effect would be either Fred or George. The most likely is Percy because he has to redeem himself somehow.

If Malfoy dies, it’ll be just as he’s doing something good. He’ll go out a hero.

Oh, and it was Bellatrix that drove them to insanity, not Moldyfart…

If Draco dies, Snape won’t and vice versa. I’d put 2:1 on Snape kicking it, saving Harry in the process. Harry will have to save Draco similarly, though he won’t die doing it.

Does one of those two include Voldy? Voldy has to die, or at worst, be blasted into the stone ages. I’d be surprised if her publisher would even allow her to let Voldy win, regardless of whether Harry dies.

I’d still kill Harry, myself, but then again, I’m a damn cold-hearted writer that way.

Did you guys see the article where they talked about Stephen King and John Irving begging her not to kill Harry? I found that amusing.

Harry doesn’t snuff it, because after all, the series is supposed to be for kids. A kid’s story screams for the hero living on, even if all of his buds become worm food in the process.

Unless JKR has switched the story’s audience to adults. As an adult story, Harry cashing in is fair game.

Should we have a category for “Voldemort survives, but suffers a fate worse than death”?

Here’s my theory:

I think we find out that Voldemort isn’t that powerful. And he ends up being slayed halfway through the book. Then we discover that Snape is actually the new evil superpower and he ends up being slain by the ghost of Dumbledore. But that’s just my theory

Ron gets it - then Harry gets Hermione!

Can we put money on Dumbledore or Black coming back, then dying again?

:frowning: That’s just mean.

Everybody Dies!

Rowlings has been pretty clear that “This is the really real world. There ain’t no comin’ back.”

So I doubt it.
