I haven’t read any of the books, but I really enjoyed this movie. It was terrific how I could understand exactly what was going on without having any clue about it beforehand. So far I’ve seen the movie twice (a rarity of it’s own); once on opening night and once on Saturday night.
Ok, I gotta ask…Why the hell did you go see the movie if you had never read the books? Especially when you have a perfectly playable (not crashing) X-Box at home?
Plato? Aristotle? Socrates? Morons!

Not marketed towards adults? It’s marketed towards everybody. They are quite aware of how many adults like the books too, so they surely aren’t so silly as to limit their target market.
For a movie not marketed towards adults, there were twice as many adults in the theater as kids. On both sides of my group were couples who had both read the books.
I went because it looked interesting, and some of my friends had read them and wanted to go.
When I went to see it, it was on a Sunday evening with about 6 other friends. All of us were adults…all except one had read the books. My estimate of the (surprisingly light) crowd in the auditorium was that it was about 70% adult.
Glad you liked it, Civil Defense. As for my own reaction, I’ve already posted my thoughts in this thread.
I plan on seeing it again. I’ll be visiting family for Thanksgiving, and my stepmother is a big Harry Potter fan. She was out of town last weekend and wasn’t able to see it, and so I’ll be doing my best to cajole her into seeing it so I can tag along and see it a second time.
