Sampiro, Joanna Lumley is exactly who I pictured as Rita! And I would like to see Michael Palin show up as Fudge, myself (or possibly Christopher Ryan). Somewhere in my head, I have a list of British actors I’m just dying to see show up somewhere in the HP movies. I’m unable to access it at the moment, however. I’ll come back after I’ve finished my coffee.
Many films and television series are often “made” by the secondary actors. Daniel Radcliffe hasn’t really impressed me, but Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have been excellent in their roles, IMO.
Of course, many main actors are handicapped by being the spotlighted character. The character may not get as much characterization time due to being at the center of a lot of the “action”, or there may be stricter rules for how the character is portrayed.
Harry isn’t given as much opportunity to show off a wider variety of personal attributes, or show off those attributes that may be most appealing to a greater extent. Hermione and Ron have had more opportunity to show often the particular attributes of their personalities which make them endearing to us.
Emma Watson will be fourteen in three days, I believe. Unlike a lot of the young actresses, she hasn’t been made up like a tart to look ten years older than she is. (Has anybody seen Elvis Presley’s 14-year-old granddaughter? ) So no one’s started a “countdown” for Emma yet (that I know of). She looks like a girl, yet she’s only two years away from “legal”.
Anyhoo…
The best place for early rumors that have a chance of being true is still MuggleNet. As a matter of fact they are listing rumors about the casting of Rita and Fleur at the moment.
Did you hear about the poor stupid gullible Chilean girl who flew to London to meet Daniel Radcliffe?
Speaking of Radcliffe, he is the richest non-royal teenager in England, with next closest being Charlotte Church. Not bad considering he only made $75,000 up front for the first movie (plus a share of the gross).
I squeed too! I can’t wait!!!
The Countdown to Hermione Granger’s 18th birthday continues!
She looks quite grown-up here.
Oh man, go to the “About Me” page at that site. Pretty creepy.
This just HAS to be a parody site, right? Did you read on the “About Me” page that the webmaster feels so much empathy for Hermione because:
I think it’s fake. Also, I don’t see how the oregano would help at all.
Well, obviously, the choice of incantation and wand motion would also come into play.
To nitpick, it’s too late to count down to Hermione’s 18th birthday, since she’s now 23 (or 24, I don’t remember when her birthday is). Emma Watson, however, is younger.
Talking about Emma Watson is great and all, but what about the muppet!?! Seriously it’s right there, on the knight bus, right at the front. I can’t be the only one who sees it. What is it doing there on the bus, and more importantly, who is it supposed to be. I don’t remember ever reading about something like it in the books.
The “muppet” looks to me like a shrunken head. I think it’s supposed to be helping with the navigation of the Knights Bus – helping it avoid obstacles and such.
Is it just me, or does trying to make a movie out of these really looong books seem like a waste. By the time you get every plot line in you have little time left for all the fun parts that make the books so interesting. I’d rather see a movie based on the characters but not following the books. Or maybe just taking one plot line out of a book and expanding on it. I’d love to see more about Quiddich for example.
Looks kind of irritating, and bears the stink of something dreamt up by committee to merchandise. Ugh.
I’ve always thought that “Rupert Grint” sounds like the sort of name that Dickens would have given to one of his characters. An unpleasant character, alas (especially since he seems like a very nice kid)!
Ihhh… who else suspects this guy has some digitally manufactured nude pictures of Hermione?
More like grown-out. Actually, it looks like some “stuffing” has been going on. Don’t worry honey, they’ll come to full bloom eventually.
Another girl only two years away from legal, who I think is absolutely gorgeous, is Rachel Hurd-Wood from the recent live-action Peter Pan. Wow! (But that kid who played Peter was really creepy. Although I suppose that kind of makes since, what with Peter being such a man-child.)
Anyhoo…
If things go according to plan, I should be able to answer some question RE: HP&PoA in about eleven days!
Why? Long story short, a friend/entertainment reporter at the Plain Dealer HAS to write up a review of the film, and she said she MIGHT be getting extra passes to get in, which means I might be able to see the film almost two weeks before the rest of the country does!!!
I should know in about five days if this is a go. If it is, I’ll be the HAPPIEST girl on May 24th!
Patty
That’s gotta be a joke. Wasn’t there an Onion article that had an almost identical picture?
Yep.
At first glance the camera angle makes it look like something sitting next to the driver, but if you forward it slowly, a frame at a time (easy to do with the Quicktime format where I watched on the Apple web site), it’s clearly just a head hanging from the rearview mirror of the bus. Facing forward. Speaking. I have no idea what it is – don’t remember it from the book.
