Harvey Keitel to replace Steve Carell?

Speculation here. This seems like a really bad fit, on the surface of things. They also mention Rhys Darby, who would be hysterical in the role.

I think Keitel would be hilarious, but don’t know if such a conceit would be sustainable beyond a single season.

I wonder if there’s any money amount that would make Ricky Gervais consider it and, if so, whether it would work.

I honestly don’t think the world is prepared for how awesome Harvey Keitel would be on The Office.

I’m not sure if the Office needs more full frontal nudity.

I’ve never watched an entire episode of the office. I’ve tried, but I haven’t been able to do it, I always doze off halfway through.
If Kietel joins, I’ll watch.

I haven’t watched the show in years; for those who have, has it jumped the shark or is there still life in it?

From age alone I would think the show’s only got another couple of seasons in it max so it would be a good role for an established TV actor who wants to get back in the public eye. Is Kelsey Grammer doing anything these days? He might be a good match. and Grammer’s different enough from Carell he could make it his own, perhaps a competent but no-nonsense family man who’s really a basket case, or a former CEO who’s used to yachts and jets and has been downsized to this due to his involvement in the S&L failures.

They should also consider a non-white woman just to add distance from the Carell. Vanessa Williams, America Ferrera, and Hilda Ortiz are all good and all free now that Ugly Betty is cancelled.

I’ve never seen Keitel in anything remotely funny, so I can’t picture him in this role. On the other hand Rhys Darby as the clueless band manager in Flight of The Conchords was equally as clueless, if not much more, than the Michael Scott character. He has such a disingenuous air about him that he sells it effortlessly.

In small doses, he was pretty good in LIFE ON MARS.

Vanessa Williams is signed on to “Desparate Housewives”.

I can’t picture Keitel in the role. Rys Darby would be awesome, though.

I thought his role in *Pulp Fiction *was pretty funny.

“Well… Let’s not start sucking each other dicks just yet.”

Is Judd Nelson not available?

He plays the same sort of role in the film Yes Man alongside Jim Carey.

What about Portia DeRossi, as mentioned? Judging from her role on Better Off Ted I think she’d be great - in fact they could almost use that very character!

It’s running out of material, fast. I think they have two options:

  1. Get a new “boss” who is vastly different from Carrell - female, foreign, etc.

  2. Expand the show so that many more scenes take place outside of the office. This would add variety and provide the opportunity to see how a character’s home life affects his/her work life.

Harvey Keitel is an awesome actor, but that role’s really going to test him.

I don’t think it’d be a test for him at all. He’d be just the right combination of frightening and hilarious. Harvey Keitel can do humor, we’re just accustomed to seeing him in roles that aren’t funny.

Und doing that vile wearing a dress und speaking wiz ein German accent wuld be something to zee.

I was thinking Swedish
