James Spader is hilariously creepy.
Spader looks like an older Billy Crystal.
All that and then no reveal as to who the new boss is? What a complete jerk off.
So, did they reveal the new boss for next year? Any surprises in the tag or anything? Spoil me.
No reveal. They wasted our time. It looked like they were setting it up to be Jim, though (the most boring choice they could possibly make).
Did anyone seriously belive that the new manager would be revealed this season?
Yeah. Why not? It’s not like fans won’t watch if they don’t like the new manager.
Well actually it’s a relief to me. I took that last bit that took place as the credits rolled - with Creed in Michael’s old office - to mean that Creed (CREED!) got the manager’s job. That just wouldn’t work. Creed is a great character, but only in small doses.
Loved seeing Catherine Tate as one of the candidates. I didn’t expect that.
And Pam doing the impersonations on the phone was funny.
In fact, I would like to see Pam get Michael’s job in the end. That might not make real-life logical sense, but it would be a great character arc for Pam - going from lowly, put-upon secretary to the boss. And it would make for a great reversal in the show’s dynamic - instead of an office full of hapless workers dealing with a moronic boss, the show would be about a practical but exasperated boss dealing with an office full of nutjobs.
I doubt the writers even know who’s going to play the boss next season.
When did Kevin become actually retarded?
Ya know, that’s not a bad idea. Pam quickly figured out a way to stop Creed, and there have been other times when she’s shown good sense.
OTOH, it’s a bad idea because she’d be Jim’s boss.
Never mind.
True, but Jo was perfectly willing to allow Jim to be Pam’s boss. And not just temporily either; remember he was briefly the Regional Manager when Sabre first bought out Dunder-Miflin. Also I got the impression that what she really wanted was for Jim to put himself forward for the job.
Hey, they revealed that Ryan was the new boss at the end of one season. Who knows?
Yeah, part of me was thinking that Jim would end up as the boss.
That might make for an interesting dynamic in itself - Jim having to deal with his wife as his boss.
Something else that showed some growth and maturity on Pam’s part was her response to Angela’s nasty comment about Pam’s “ironic” wedding.
That Angela is one nasty bitch.
Comments about the new manager aside, I thought this was a pretty funny episode. These past couple of eps have really given me hope for the post-Scott Office.
I took her silence as a response in and of itself. She quickly weighed her choices. What’s worse. Tell Angela now and the wedding is off and the whole office gets to watch Angela melt down right then and there or don’t tell her and let her find out years down the road…it would hurt her worse but they wouldn’t get to see the reaction.
To make the example a bit more relatable, let’s say “your” Angela is about to get married and you find out her fiance has been having an affair for the last year and has no intention of breaking it off. Do you tell her now or leave it alone knowing she’ll probably find out some day. You could tell her now or you could wait until the relationship has been built up for years and then tell her. That way instead of destroying a few months of her life you can destroy a few years of it.
Also, I’m surprised they’re bringing this up like it’s new. IIRC Oscar mention that he was gay the first time she brought him to the office.
Well, its the first time that everyone else knows about it.
