Pam’s not that mean.
Is she?
That’s just evil.

I thought it was a very good episode. “Jack Souvenir”
So who do we want to be manager?
I would like Ray Ramano, But I think Andy might get it.
Did he only discuss it with the camera? I don’t remember. I remember something about him looking at someones butt. But that’s it.
From Wiki “Angela brings her new boyfriend, State Senator Robert Lipton, to the party. Oscar is immediately interested in him and identifies him as gay (but only in a talking-head interview). Later on, Oscar catches Robert casting a furtive glance at Ryan’s butt, and looks at the camera knowingly.”
So yeah, it was only with the camera. I thought a few people talked about it. I guess Oscar kept it to himself.
Kelly Erin Hannon is just a Porky’s baby
I don’t have any problem with the lack of reveal.
My problem is that they didn’t really build any suspense. It could be almost anybody next year or even someone totally differrant.
Am I correct that, after the scene in the general area, Jim brought everyone into the conference room to hash out a recommendation for Jo and that is where they left it.
Jim called Kelly and Toby back into the room to discuss it, but Kevin had the same impression you had and followed only to have the door slam in his face.
what’s driving ME bananas is that andy all of a sudden doesn’t have feelings for Erin anymore? when in the history of unrequited love has that happen? random, nonsensical drama for the sake of it. i got the feeling that the writers know they have another pam/jim dynamic and they NEED to milk it but don’t know exactly how to keep the two apart. they should have had andy get another gf, or andy’s parents intervening, or something. just saying andy’s feelings for her up and vanished is just lazy.
Jo: And how would you handle things if we actually hired Mr. Souvenir?
Dwight: I would dress like this [the Invisible Man, for crying out loud!!] every day. I would learn French sign language.
But…Michael talked about it in a meeting a few years ago, even kissing Oscar to prove he is not anti-gay.
I believe enalzi’s “he” is the senator, not Oscar.
I think so, or at least a very strong lookalike. I have to grudgingly admit that I laughed at Ray Romano, who I normally can’t stand: “the place was full of jerk-wads and jerk-offs. Wads and offs. . .” And Spader was terrific. Otherwise, much of the episode was too over the top, even by current Office standards. Wish they could have gotten Christopher Walken for a cameo.
I read that Catherine Tate is a frontrunner for the job, which isn’t a bad choice I suppose.
Kathy Bates did mention “that guy from Cornell” which is setting the Nard Dog up as a dark horse, though it’s been mentioned on this board before. Ed Helms has been outstanding since he came onto the show and making him the manager could work very well, imo.
I think she was just using that as a way to set up Gabe. She knew that it was Andy.
Please don’t let the new manager be Jim Carrey. Please please please. Please.
“My family’s still up in the Finger Lakes. I told ‘em I was goin’ on a hike so I could come to this interview. I should probably get back up there.”
Yes, that was Warren Buffett. (See this article for confirmation.) I think it’s safe to assume that he’s not getting the role. Will Arnett could be good for the part, although he has a sitcom starting in the autumn. As someone else said, Catherine Tate is supposedly the most likely candidate, although she’s supposed to be on stage in London until September. Perhaps James Spader then?
Who is Catherine Tate?
That has got to be one of the best episodes in this series. The interviews were brilliant – Darryl, Andy, Kelly, James Spader, Ricky Gervais, Ray Romano, Catherine Tate, Will Arnett, Warren Buffett. Perfectly scripted and performed.
Ryan was also used very well in this episode. “Try taking a break from being Jim once in a while.”
“As a lover of elegant weddings …”
And I’m really loving Kathy Bates. Her combination of maternal affection and no-nonsense businesswoman really works. It meshes a lot better with the looney-tunes world of Scranton than a straight corporate owner.
“You have met a lesbian in real life, right?”
“These are costing me 10 cents apiece, you jackass! I’m roaming!”
“I’m doing an opposites thing.”
Kevin and the alphabet.
OK, just to reassure me that I haven’t lost my mind - they showed both episodes last night, right? When I looked this morning, my freaking DVR missed it and Hulu only had part 1. So part 2 did air? I can look later, but right now I’m baffled.
And what the hell is wrong with the guy that plays Toby? I was distracted whenever he was on by how deathly he looks - and he was never very healthy looking to begin with! Yeesh!
