The Office 5/19/11

Hulu has both parts now.

I thought Catherine Tate (Molly?) made a perfect female version of David Brent.

I thought the episode was mixed. Some very big laughs (Ryan’s condescending advice to Jim, pretty much everything with Creed), but I didn’t really enjoy the wacky celebrity guests. Still, I’m optimistic about the future.

Not a bad episode, but not all that great either. I don’t think I laughed out loud once. I think I expected more from all the promos about it being the SEASON FINALE!!!

Well, it wasn’t really split into parts, it was one hour long episode. But it looks like Hulu has the second half up now.

“Stop figuring me out!”

“Five billion paper products?”
“Pieces of paper.”

I do hope that Jim Carrey made it up to the Finger lakes.

Was that whole thing a reference to Mark Sanford? (Former governor of South Carolina, who claimed to be “hiking the Appalachian Trail” when he was really visiting a mistress in Argentina.)

I liked it a lot. The only thing I really didn’t care for was the alphabet thing. I don’t mind him being incompetent, but having him be that stupid doesn’t really fit.

I was thinking the same thing about Ryan, Acsenray. It was one of the few episodes of the season were he really stuck out in a good way. The slamming of the door after he said James was especially funny.

I kind of hope they go outside of the company for the new boss. I don’t know if I like the dynamic of anyone inside as the new manager.

Man, it was funny to see Daryl screw things up. He’s funny as ultra cool does everything right, as he usually was with Michael. But, he is even funnier when he doesn’t know what he is doing.

Pam as a boss is a really interesting idea! Of course, unless they really are hoping to shock, they aren’t going to do that since she didn’t even interview. I don’t think Pam was being bitchy to Angela at all. In the context of the show everyone agreed it was kindest not to tell Angela. So, Pam was showing self control by not telling.
Man, the conversation she had with her self for creed’s benefit made me laugh and laugh. It’s weird that I don’t like Kevin being so dumb that he doesn’t know the alphabet, but having Creed be so dumb that he can’t tell she is talking to herself cracked me up. Oh well. Can’t explain it. Just laughed at it.

When I first heard Carell was leaving the show I thought they should just end it. After the last two eps I am pretty excited on what they are going to do next year.

I also like his petty bickering with Pam, both in this episode, and the one in which he mocked her for saying that something was “like crack.”

I don’t mind Creed being dumb because I don’t think he’s “dumb,” just batshit insane.

I think the only thing I didn’t like about this one was the Andy and Erin stuff. They just want to milk that for all it’s worth, though maybe Andy was too occupied with perhaps being the new boss

What Ricky Gervais thinks of ‘The Office’ finale: ‘If you’re going to jump a shark, jump a big one’

Micheal, often being my biggest problem of the show, is now gone. This isn’t a ‘Jump The Shark’ moment for me. This “Big Name Episode” wasn’t nearly as bad as the SuperBowl episode, or Pam and Jim’s wedding.

I liked it. I only laughed out loud a few times, but I had a grin on my face for most of the episode.

Personally, I’d like to see Spader get the gig – I think they could have a lot of fun going from an incompetent manager in Michael to an overly competent manager (and that interaction with Dwight was awesome). But I’m thinking they’ll do what they always do – have someone in the manager role for a while (let’s say Nard Dog), then have something happen to said manager, and so some minor celebrity makes an extended cameo… bleh.

Am I the only one betting on Dwight? Although I too would like to see James Spader the most, I don’t think it will happen.

And Ray Romano - ugh. If he gets the job that would be the only thing that would actually make me stop watching the show for real.

They’ve done the Dwight in charge several times already, it’s good for a gag but it would get old extremely quick. Spader was the funniest of the candidates but i’m not sure it would work as a full time thing, either Jim or Darryl would be fine. Why was Creed trying to sabotage the branch?

I don’t think Creed was trying to sabotage the branch; I think he believed the only way to make his temporary management role permanent was to do something completely over the top, like Michael used to. Like line up all the big clients and threaten to start his own company, in the hopes that Jo would name him office manager to keep the clients. Unfortunately, he’s even less competent than Michael was.

“He creeps me out…but he might be a genius.”

Spader was just awesome. Best part of the episode.

Ryan was really great in this episode, too. I kept rewinding and rewatching the scene where he advises “James” to give up the “Jim schtick.” I was cracking up at that.

And I loved Erin describing herself as a “Porky’s baby.”

How about this… they all decide they don’t need a boss, make up a bogus person and try to pull the wool over Jo’s eye’s all next season

Gabe is a schmuck but he went back to corporate didn’t he? He is still the laiason but they could fool him when he comes to visit.
