The Office 5/19/11

Ooooh - kind of a Remington Steele thing. Bonus points if they bring in Pierce Brosnan as the last candidate before they get the idea.

Loved the way he looked in the camera after each one asked him a quesion.

Ryan’s condescending advice was doubly funny on account of his giving it from the tiny utility closet of an office that Jim put him in so many months ago.

Damn it, Hulu. I watched part 2 first thinking it was the latest episode. It actually made enough sense without part one.

Remington what?

Hulu can really suck sometimes. Now I need to know - did Jim Carrey have just the one talking head where he talked about the Finger Lakes? That seems like a mighty brief cameo.
Angela & Phylis are both brittle bitches, but Phylis at least seems capable of occasionally being decent. Unfortunately I work with people just like both of them - the Angela type is easier to work around, since you always know what to expect.

I suddenly feel very old.

Yes. They’d talked about his character earlier, but he only appeared at the end there.

What was the Kevin / ABCs thing? I somehow missed it.
mmm

When Erin was putting on the puppet show, Kevin offered in a talking head that in his opinion, the puppet didn’t offer enough educational content “for the kids.” Then he started giving an example, starting with a garbled version of the alphabet, which included the letter Emmenello.

At this point they could reveal that Kevin has had a brain tumor growing for the past few years that has made him get progressively stupider. They could have a story arc where he has it removed, then when he’s smart (or at least non-retarded) again, he gets mad at his coworkers for not noticing or doing anything about it sooner.

Kevin’s always seemed retarded. When he explicitly told Holly (?) a few years ago that he wasn’t, it was the first time I realized he wasn’t supposed to be.

I loved that Ryan was casually stealing money from Kelli while discussing whether the (state) Senator was gay or not.

A Flowers For Algernon parody episode would be funny, but would probably go over most viewer’s heads.

Can someone remind me of the exchange between Pam and Angela near the receptionist area, because I recall Angelea being snippy, but thinking that Pam actually kind of deserved for something she said first.

what’s driving ME bananas is that andy all of a sudden doesn’t have feelings for Erin anymore? when in the history of unrequited love has that happen? random, nonsensical drama for the sake of it.

I might be misremembering, but I thought in his talking head part right after telling her that, he was really trying to convince himself that was how he felt. I almost think he did that to better his chances of getting the job, since they couldn’t hit him with conflict of interest or partiality claims down the road.

On the contrary, Pam was minding her own business and Angela smacked her out of the blue.

Angela: Stanley, I won’t be able to invite everyone to the wedding, because we want to keep it to 350.

Stanley: I’ll get over it.

Angela: I mean, we just have to see how many senators and members of Congress want to attend before we can open it up to regular people. Pam, you know how you and Jim did your ironic wedding? Do you still have the plans for the dream wedding that you couldn’t afford?

Pam: That was our dream wedding.

Angela: Niagara Falls? Pregnant? That was your dream? Pork medallions?

Pam: I hope you have a very beautiful wedding, Angela.

There was also an exchange where Angela was lampooning Jim’s propsal to Pam.

Angela: … will you be a senator’s wife?

Pam: Ohh-ha-ha! He talked about himself in the third person?

Angela: Yes, Pam, not everyone is as informal as you and Jim. “Uh, hey, Pam, dude. Whatever, wanna marry me?”

Pam: That’s not accurate.
