The Office 5/19/11

yes, this is the one I was thinking of. Angela is telling the story about the proposal and Pam interjects about the third person. Not cool. I don’t mind, I like it when the people we are supposed to like aren’t saints all the time, but I certainly thought that Pam deserved that comeback.

I don’t think Pam was mocking him. It really sounded like a “That’s so cute” comment.

…funny since arguably he was one of the celebrity sharks they brought in for it.
I must say one thing about this season and the Dopers reactions to it- WHY HAS NO ONE COMMENTED ON THE RIDICULOUS PANTS ANDY HAS BEEN WEARING? Seriously! Most of this season he’s been wearing these pink/red slacks and then in these episodes he’s in nearly neon green ones.
WTF!

Not a fan of the Phyllis/Erin plot. It honestly just reminded me more of how there was never much of a pay off for the Michael/Erin father/daughter relationship.

“A, then B … and so on. Emmenello. P. (pause) F.”

Comedy gold.

Then he finds out he was happier before and elects to have the [del]crayon[/del] tumor shoved back into his brain.

We did, a few weeks ago.

The pants are truly hideous, but at the same time, they just fit my idea of the character so well that I wouldn’t change it. They are just so awful. (I do like Andy, but I think the pants show how clueless he is, despite his Cornell degree).

What about how much music was in this season; from the Lip Sync ‘cold open’ of the first episode, to Andy’s play, to the Glee episode, and everyone singing to Michael before he left. Not to mention Michael’s ‘Threat Level Midnight’, (Jan singing on the piano), movie and the webisodes of Subtle Sexuality, (the music group both Kelly and Kelly Erin started).

I think there are other examples.

Between Andy, Darryl, and Kevin, the show has always been fairly musical. Subtle Sexuality was last year.

I thought they made a new webisode this year… at least I saw one that was new to me not that long ago.

Yeah “Girl Next Door” is fairly newish.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone brought up the awesomeness that is

mmm

I haven’t felt as bad for a character on TV for years as I felt about Darrel on that episode.

He’s almost certainly the best candidate but he just didn’t know the formalities and doesn’t have the meaningless resume “bona fides,” and it completely screwed him over. And to see such an outwardly mellow guy continue to be outwardly mellow while obviously really wanting this and being kind of crushed inside–and then he allows his integrity and dignity to be totally defeated, selling his own daughter (so to speak) to get the job? So he just loses in every way possible?!

Ack! It’s like 1st season Office. Really cruel to the characters! And thoroughly enjoyable even though you don’t enjoy it!

Darryl’s not out of it yet, and it sounded like Jim was leaning towards recommending him.

I thought Darryl was displaying a bit of hubris there. After having been kicked upstairs once, he just assumed that he could now glide right into the manager’s position without having to make an effort. And as hubris always does, it bit him in the ass.

Not always. He was in a decent band, he had a decent looking girlfriend, he had a bracelet from the world series of poker. He started out as a “guy who looks like a complete loser but is actually pretty cool once you learn about him” character.

Wasn’t it already established in a past season that Darryl was making more than Michael? Does that mean he would have to take a pay cut if he gets the job?

No, he wasn’t making more than Michael. He would have been if Michael had given him the raise that he had asked for. But in the end, both Michael and Darryl got modest raises.

He also was a free-throw wizard.

They haven’t made him a complete idiot yet… Remember his “And THAT’S how you play Dallas.” hustle from just this season?
