I thought their “cause” was the Russian occupation and oppression of Chechnya (not Iraq or Iran or Afghanistan), although less clear why he lashed out against the United States, or people therein, for that. (Did they think America was complicit in the Russian oppression of Chechnya, or at least guilty of sitting around and doing nothing?)
