Has a saint helped you lately?

Can anyone give an example of a saint interceding on their behalf?

The other day I couldn’t find my keys. I prayed to St Antony of Padua (just a hello). A few seconds later I found my keys. What makes it an intercession is that I had looked right where they were earlier, but didn’t see them. IMO most people think that it takes big prayers and big miracles. No, most times its small. But its always honest and sincere. That’s the most important thing. Love gets love. Its so easy most people just can’t understand. Me and Tony understand. I hope you do.

Remember folks, we want pictures.

I think someone over in GD has a poster of Jill Saint John, hubba hubba.

Here’s my story: Back when I was in college, my family still had a dog (Whitey). She was getting up there in years. She had a bad heart and was taking medicine for it. One night around 3 AM, my mother woke me up and said our dog was dying. Whitey was sitting in the hallway looking frightened, and wheezing uncontrollably. There was a 24 hour vet about 15 miles from us, so we rushed to get dressed and go. I carried my dog outside while I waited for my mother. Whitey was suffering, so I said a prayer to St. Francis. Basically I said that I realized Whitey was going to die, but could he please keep her from suffering. No sooner had I finished when Whitey quieted down and just lay there, peaceful and alert. I drove toward the vet’s as fast as I could while Whitey rested in my mother’s lap. Finally, our dog just gave a deep breath and died. I know it sounds corny, but I still think we had some help that night.

I was born on All Saints Day, and I helped Rasta with his website…does that count?

The Saint of Orgasms has been visiting me daily, nightly, just about all the time lately. I don’t remember praying or asking or anything so I just wanted to take this moment to say: AH! OH! GOD! YES! And Thanks!

Best!

Byz: ROFLMAO!!

I love that Saint! Didn’t he make a movie lately? (Orgazmo?

Well, this is a serious thing for Catholics, of course. Anyone can ask for help from the saints, though; just find someone whose work or life story means something to you and ask them to join their prayers with yours.

St. Jude (patron of desperate cases and lost causes) helped me get a job when it was really desperate, and I’m hoping for his help on my peculiar and frustrating health situation now.

I got an example for ya:

Sunday night, I watched “One True Thing”, and bawled my head off as I watched Merly Streep waste away from cancer.

Outloud I said: “Please Please when Mom’s time comes, let it be quick”

And low and behold, the Saint of Screw-You Bitch heard me! The very next day, we got the news that Mom’s tumor has increased by 50% in 9 short weeks. Now, that’s service!!!

Spare me your stories. Please.

See, I cited a quote, therefore, it is true.

Cat, that wasnt for you, BTW.

You know, through all the years of Catholic crap, all the stuff with mom, I have never felt as much complete and utter fucking contempt toward ‘god’ as these fundies have made me feel.

Why the hell not just post your stupid saint story, thats what you wnated to do in the first place isnt it???

Proof to convert the pagans!

Dont disguise your fucking preaching by wrapping it in a ‘lets all share stories’ blanket, because we arent buying it…

DO YOU HEAR ME ???

WE ARENT BUYING IT!!!

I didn’t post this topic to preach to anyone. That’s the last thing I’d ever do. I just was wondering if anyone felt that a prayer to a saint helped them.

Yeah, whatever…

I am praying to a saint right now…

Do you feel a terrible burning in your ass yet???

Why dont you skip-doodly-doo on back to fundie land where the people are sweet, and nobody is mean.

Kelli, I am really sorry about your Mom. All the best to you and your family in the times ahead…

Cut Soup some slack though. He seems like an OK guy: hell (no pun), at least he didn’t post it in GD… o wait… he did too

Anyway, he still seems OK. He isn’t preaching or anything.

For you Coldfire, anything.

I will try to rein it in.

What a terrifying time for you – I didn’t know, and I’m really sorry to hear about your Mom. I wish you and her the best under the dreadful circumstances.

You’re right, Coldfire, I did originally post this in GD. A couple of people there didn’t think this was a debate topic, so I posted it here (against the suggestion of moderator DavidB, I should add). Once again, I’ll admit to being a newbie, albeit one who’s learning fast.
Anything I post is with the intention of participating in an exchange of ideas with interesting people. There’s no hidden agenda here.

BunnyGirl: Hey, you’re right! They made that movie in Utah or it was some Utah guys or maybe I’m thinking that because it has Mormons in it… anyway, I’ve been trying to catch a screening of it… Orgasmo: If you can’t have one at least you can see the movie!

kellibelli: Sorry about your mother. Anything I can do you know how to get a hold of me. I may not be a saint but I’m a pretty helpful person none the less.

Best!
