Can anyone tell me if anyone from the ‘common herd’ of obscurity has ever become so enamored of a movie star, that he/her has managed to climb somehow up to the attention of the person, actually meet and either have an affair with or marry said star?
I have said no to this question but some have said yes, though no one knows anyone’s name. (We eliminated most of the male rock stars because they’re all to willing to schtook any halfway pretty female groupie who spreads it for them.)
I thought about it and cannot come up with any real episodes, though there are many, many movies and books based on such fictitious happenings.
I have heard of movie stars getting letters from sick kids and showing up to meet them in person, but rarely any such thing concerning adults. Plus, most such famous people tend to move in a strictly regulated peer group, rarely stepping out into the commonality to look around. Usually, if I note that anyone ‘common’ who meets a star usually has done something like won the lottery, is worth megabucks, has made contacts and is no longer ‘common.’
There must be some real stories out there – and not the 90% fake 10% fact ones from things like the National Inquirer.
Yeah, I have a mate who stars in the TV show “Red Dwarf” which is known in a number of countries throughout the world, and I understand is big in the Seattle area.
He was living with a ‘normal’ girl, and has since married another ‘normal’ girl (he’s actually pretty normal himself).
He’s not a Hollywood star or anything but is reasonably well known.
well this is a band, but i think it counts… My friend met the band after a show and now has been dating a member for several months and they are very happy. I myself have hung out with them and they are wonderful people (not typical rock stars) any time they come into town i get to hang out with them and other bands that happen to be there…i have great friends and have met many famous people in the music industry this way
Which guy? (just curious) I love that show! I have never seen it broadcast in the NYC area. I have only seen it on tapes that belong to friends. Anybody know if you can see it here?
Didn’t Robin Williams marry his ex-babysitter? Does that count? How about Liz Taylor and Larry Fortensky? He was a regular guy. Roseanne married her driver, after she divorced Tom Arnold (who wasn’t exactly famous before he married her). Tom then went on to marry a 21 year old girl who he met while she was a college student, but they have since divorced. How about Maryann Faithfull(sp?)…wasn’t she just a groupie? Then again, I guess she wouldn’t count due to the ‘rock star’ exception.
Can you tell I read Grandma’s tabloids when I visit?
Rose
I’ve seen it on PBS in LA and Seattle. Check your listings. If they don’t show it now they will soon, because the movie (for international release) starts filming this fall.
yeah, i hang out with some members of a pretty famous band all the time, and i dated two actresses, one which is famous, somewhat, independent films.
but now i’m ready for the "yeah right soulsling, sure you did. that’s ok though, 'cause if you ever do meet me, you’ll probably end up meeting them.
Yeah right soulsling, betcha hooked up with some B movie actress, and hung out with Winger and Reo-Speedwagon. I wanna be like soulsling. What a lucky SOB.
Actually, a woman I went to church with married John Goodman. He actually had a summer home here for a while, but from what I’ve heard, he’s since sold it. I don’t blame him. I don’t want to live here either.
Um… would wrestling people count? The Hart’s live in this city and I don’t think any of them married anyone famous.
And this one guy I babysit for he’s working on getting famous his wife and kid are really nice… I don’t think that counts though since they are a local band at this time and not famous yet…
I think Johnny Carson’s wife (Alex Maas) was just a regular person before she started making daily strolls in front of Johnny’s beachfront house, in her bikini, until Johnny finally came out to see what was up. They’ve been married for a while now.
My cousin works in the movie industry and dated a famous producer for several years. This might not count because she’s not a totally “regular” person; she’s somewhat famous herself in her field. And, I used to work with a girl whose long-time boyfriend was Gary Cherone of Extreme. However, they started dating long before Extreme put out any records, so that might not count either.
poopybutt - what band?
soulsling - what band and what actresses?
Diane - which WCW Pro Wrestler?
Miss Bunny - what producer? Any famous movies?
I think it’s so cool to run into people that you’ve seen in movies and on t.v. or gone to one of their concerts.
My friend Kim is dating some guy who works for Neil McCoy. The guy’s just a roadie but Kim gets into all of Neil’s concerts for free and hangs out with them and stuff. She just graduated from college last weekend and the band sent her cards and gifts and stuff. It was pretty cool.
I’ve never dated anyone famous. I’ve met lots of famous people and had lunch with some and drinks with some but never actually dated one. But, look where I live… not too many famous people come this way unless it’s for a concert or something!
i would give you names, but is that fair to them?
ok, i’ll give you the bands name since it really doesn’t matter as far as they’re concerned.
The Ramones.
not a big deal, i grew up in Brooklyn, where Marky (Marc Bell actually) lives.
he and i became pretty tight, even though he’s 20 years older then me, i was working for him at first doing merchandise design for his new band ideas and some album cover stuff and web sites. Then i started hanging out with him more often and Dee Dee (Stephen actually), who i’m afraid to say, is way off his rocker. in a good way. i love the guys, but it’s hard to hang with them too often. it’s pretty intense sometimes. needless to say, i can’t listen to the music anymore because i feel all wierd about it. I’ve heard it so much in the studio and i participated so much in the band’s later work and Marky’s new band the Intruders that the music doesn’t do for me what it did as i was growing up.
As far as the actress goes, she’s an independent film actress, and she’s done some Broadway, and there’s no way i am ever going out with an acress again after that. Every actress and actor i met through her or with her was the same, very insecure, very self centered, and full of habitual addictive tendencies. I won’t name her out of fairness to her. Her uncle is a great playwrite as well, which i imagine is how she got into the whole scene.
