Has anybody else watched the Sky1 sitcom SPY?

If not, it’s brilliant.

I’ll hold off on saying much about it in the OP since no reason to go into much detail if nobody else has seen it. For those who haven’t but might be interested, only six 30 minute episodes were shot for the first series and they’re all available on Hulu, and if you love fast paced comedy in general and Britcoms in particular it’s a must see.

QUICK SYNOPSIS:

Tim is a discontent recently divorced somewhat slackerish late 30-something wage slave who decides he wants a new career and, completely by accident, is recruited to be a spy. His circle of friends and family include his extremely bright if corrupt and obnoxious former co-worker and best friend Chris, his ice queen ex-wife Judith, her current lover Phillip, and Tim and Judith’s brilliant Machiavellian 8 year old son Marcus, a deranged case worker named Paula, and Tim’s new co-workers including dissipated and slightly insane spymaster known only as ‘The Examiner’.

The entire cast is great, but the standouts are Mat Baynton as Chris, Robert Lindsay as “The Examiner”, and above all Jude Wright as Marcus, a live-action 8 year old who would make Stewey Griffin run screaming to Lois for protection. The rapid fire and intelligent writing and eccentric but well written characters have helped with some of the withdrawal pangs from Community.

So has anybody else watched this?

PS- I was unfamiliar with Darren Boyd before watching this series but found myself wondering halfway through if his father, Mr. Boyd, ever got suspicious at John Cleese popping in and out of the house all the time 9 months before Darren was born. I thought there was a strong resemblance.

Little did I know that apparently a lot of others thought so too, and in fact he was cast as the young Cleese in Holy Flying Circus. With the moustache and the hair dye the resemblance could fool Cleese’s next of kin.
