Has anyone actually made Leftover Parfait?

In an episode of Malcolm In The Middle, Malcolm mentions ‘leftover parfait’. The idea is that leftovers are saved and on the seventh day they are arranged in layers and heated up. Inevitably, one layer of leftover parfait would be the leftover parfait from the previous week.

Has anyone actually done this?

Not that I know of. That sounds really gross. Especially since there’d be a small amount of really old food from many many week ago which, once it goes bad, could spread germs to slightly more recent leftovers.

:eek:

Yes, that was the joke. :wink:

Still, I wonder if anyone’s actually done it (for real) or if anyone did it after seeing the episode (just to say they did it).

Or, for that matter, how about under-couch-cushion granola/snack mix, another featured recipe from that same show.

doesn’t everyone KINDA do this the week after thanksgiving? you make some sort of weird plate of mash potatoes, mac n cheese, and turkey and microwave it all together?

My dad would fry a bunch of leftovers together with ketchup, as long as they were all from the “meat + starch” family.

I make Leftover Soup, does that count? Bits and pieces of the stuff that gets put away, but nobody has any intention of eating (2 tablespoons of peas, 3 ounces of pork roast, half a cup of chili, etc.) goes into a pot with some stock and/or diced tomatoes. Generally, it’s pretty good, although it’s never the same soup twice. Do not, however, attempt to bring leftover Chinese food into the party. It never ends well - the flavors just don’t play well with others. Lesson learned.

I’ve never used leftover Leftover Soup in the Leftover Soup, though. That just sounds like a microbial bad news day.

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold,
Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old;
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.

Done the Thanksgiving thing, little else.
