A couple of years ago, I learned about the “Festival in the Desert”, a 3 day music festival in Mali, near Timbuktu. This is a link to the 2008 program. It hasn’t been updated for 2009.
Has anyone been to one of these? If you have, how was it? It seems like such a cool way to spend part of January. Lots of musicians from Mali, but also some from other areas. It’s definately on my list of things to do some day.
