Has anyone ever used a $100,000 razor?

http://www.zafirro.com/products/Zafirro-Iridium.html

is it worth the price?

If this one razor has literally indestructible sharpness and so lasted you the rest of your life, say 50 years, that’d still come out to about US$5.50 per shave. Maybe if you shared it with 20 friends every day it might come down to the average cost of using a disposable razor from 7-Eleven; but then again, eww.

What in the hell for??

If I win the lottery, I’ll buy a shit load of Gillette Fusions and ten Honda Civics. Never would I invest in a $100,000 razor or a ferrari. Heck, you’d have to insure both of those luxuries.

It’s only got a 10-year guarantee. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I’ve used one, but I sent it back after I slipped and left half my face in another space-time continuum. However, I have high hopes for their forthcoming Last-A-Smile[sup]TM[/sup] toothbrush.

I used one to shave my ass. Once.

But where and for how long?

That is just… silly.
Nope… never used one, and wouldn’t.
For one thing, for less then $100,000 I could go to a barber every single day for the next 15 years for a shave.
For less then $100,000 I could also just have all the hair I wasn’t interested in removed permanently.

Is it worth it?
Absolutely not. The blades just might be okay (still not worth 100k), but iridium? Platinum? The materials of the rest of the razor offer absolutely no benefit from an inexpensive disposable or cartridge razor.

I can’t even think of the vain twit with WAY too much money to spend who would be interested in like this. It’s not even as if you would store it under a crystal dome in the reading room for people to see, ya know?

I found it telling that at no point did they actually say in there that this razor cuts better, closer, or more accurately than a disposable razor. The closest they come is saying that the point is 5000 times thinner than a human hair…which, really says nothing at all.
You’d think they could link to some test results or, hell, even a picture of “guy with super razor vs. guy with a Gillette.”

I didn’t know it was rated for veterinary work…

'Cause, you know, CNC Swiss screw micromachines designed for regular biotech applications just won’t cut it.

Depends. What price do you put on a nice, close shave?

I added it to my “cart” for purchase. It had a shipping option of “personal delivery” for an additional $1500 I shit you not.
They also would not take my credit card info on-line since the amount was so high. I was instructed to call them.

“Utilizing expertise in fields as varied as rocket engine manufacturing, nanotechnology, and particle physics”

Why wouldn’t I want any of those things near my face?

It’s not used to shave. It’s used to flaunt how you’ve got a $100,000 razor.

I can shave while sitting on my Hang Fung Gold Toilet.

So this isn’t a joke? It looks like a joke to me.

Pfft… maybe if you’re a hobo or something.

It’s a joke. Think about how many instances over time you’ve dropped the razor in the shower or knocked it off the little shower ledge onto the floor of the where it hits hard enough for the head and handle to separate. Then think about dropping this and the hypothetical ultra thin sapphire blade cracking like glass.

It’s all shenanigans.

I think it is genuine attempt to part rich fools from their money. It would be pretty restrained for a parody site. Also, the “About Zafirro” says it is a Bright Light Ventures company. There is a common theme of niche products and services. I don’t think the PinzaCord is a parody, there is a review on Wired.

I can see the reasoning here. After all, there are watches that sell for tens of thousands of pounds. I’d be willing to bet that the 99 limited edition razors do not exist, but would be built to order if anyone actually bites.
