You hear a little bit about this league, now called the Legends Football League. I’m just curious: Has anyone here ever been to a game? Do they actually play hard (if I was out there, I would…giggity), that is, competitively? Or is it just a spectacle to show a bunch of chicks in skimpy clothes running around?
I have not.
The only anecdote I have is from a few years ago. As I have done several times I took a trip with some coworkers to Vegas for Superbowl weekend. That year the Lingerie Bowl was being played in Vegas on Superbowl Sunday. And the players were staying at my hotel (no this story does not get that good unfortunately). Sunday morning I was in the 24 hour bar/restaurant eating some eggs and nursing a hangover. 8 or so players were in there too. They were tossing back Bloody Mary’s like they were dying of thirst. Not virgin Bloody Mary’s either. Somehow I think that the NFL players who were playing in a couple of hours were not out in public pounding vodka drinks.
This coach seems to think it’s serious (he also was featured and “Redeemed” on Tosh.0).
I don’t know what your definition of skimpy is but those uniforms don’t seem terribly “sexy” to me.
A few years back, they played some demonstration games here in Australia, East Coast ‘all stars’ v West Coast ‘all stars’ or a similar set up.
After watching the game, I thought it was actually a bit unfortunate the way the marketing was pitched, as the crowd had a very large component of bogans (~ rednecks) full of piss and bad manners, there for a perve.
Personally, I was actually very impressed with both the seriousness of the play and the skills and athleticism of the women playing. No mistaking that the players were serious athletes, the QB’s arms were damn good with both strength and accuracy, and I’m a massive fan of Rugby League, so I know a good bone-crunching tackle when I see one, and there were plenty on offer.
I guess I learned something new today. I just always assumed that these games were filmed in a studio; with fans edited in.
I would love to see a male version of this.
