I’m checking out Square-Enix’s new game, “Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.” It’s looks kinda cool, but I havent’ heard any recommendations past “Yeah, I’m playing it.” Can anyone give me more of an idea on how good (or bad) this game is? Thanks.

Having played SO2, I can probably say it may be a problem, but not a fatal one. The tales series (with their own just-released tales of something-or-other) has a similar problem, but what I’ve seen of the genre there are a few enemies that will tend to beat up your NPC’s. Most of the time its alright, and the real problem is that they have a habit of blowing their magic and skill reserve too fast.
I hate the battle system, too. I found it’s a little more enjoyable for me if I take the other two people out of the active party and go solo, then put them in for the boss fights. But that makes the battles take longer then. Did the Japanese gamers really like the battle system or something?
I should have known better, because I hated the battle system in SO 2 for the same reason. I just can’t help but buy any new RPG though.
Well, I loved SO2 and it has remained one of my favorite games for quite a while now. I esspecialy loved it’s real time battle system. The music and characters really drew me in and the overall atmosphere of the game kept me there. I haven’t played SO3 yet. Currently, I just don’t have the time to pkay it and I’ve been told it’s price will drop to 39.99 at Circuit City around Saturday, so I’m waiting a few more days before picking it up.
It seems like the posts here are a mixed bag, so I’d reccomend a rental at least.
