Has anyone provided proof the election was stolen?

It’s an understandable explanation. Unfortunate choice all the same.

My stepmom also succumbed to the smear. She declared she would “never” vote for Hillary Clinton. When I asked what she found so objectionable, she basically said she didn’t know, there was just something about Hillary that she “didn’t like.” I encountered this explanation frequently.

Couple this with a vague unease in this country about women who ask for power, and it’s easy for bad actors to exploit bad feelings.

Anyway, thanks for explaining. I would be remiss to not add that this is a thread hijack, and we should all stop engaging in it. Including me.

I don’t like people that scam the vulnerable out of their life savings. I think it’s reprehensible. I think it should be disqualifying for public office. I find it despairing that so many of my fellow citizens, citizens with elderly parents , think such activity is absolutely A-OK.

If you voted for Trump, ever, you’re OK with such things, and it affects my opinion of your moral character.

It was really not that simple as I have explained above. But I have been guilty of that form of bias when I was younger and less well informed.

In order to address the OP, No. No one as offered any proof of a steal in the 2020 election. But my own sad story does demonstrate that the 2016 election was likely stolen from Hilary Clinton.

You misunderstood. He was offering to produce 18 different smells.

This was never true.

Not voting for Hillary was a bad move, and you recognize that. Not voting for Trump was the right thing, which you did. As for today, welcome to the Democratic Voters Alliance, even if we may not be strictly Democrats!

Presumably, one of those was gear oil:

[I’m sorry, but the image utterly haunts my dreams. I prefer not to be alone in that  ]

Happy to be here!

Also in Temporary_Names defense, the extent to which the 2016 election was a referendum on Democracy wasn’t quite as clear on November 8th as it is in retrospect. Most people assumed that Clinton would win in a landslide. If that had come to pass Temporary_Names would probably have felt that not voting for a candidate he couldn’t fully support displayed personal integrity, and so he had made the right decision. It was only in the horror of November 9th that it became apparent that this was not an election for a protest (non-)vote

Yeah, and the treason is sort a problem too.

I have a BIL that at least has backed down to say he doesn’t like him as a person but likes his policies. BIL is wealthy and in the oil business. Sort of explains it.

Most of my Wifes family are Trump supporters (my Wife may hate Trump as much as I if that is possible). It pains her terribly that many in her family support Trump. It’s very embarrassing for her.

For me it was the day after inauguration day. I was stunned Clinton hadn’t won and in the period between election day and then I figured, well Trump doesn’t know much about being President but then again, who does. He’ll surround himself with people who will get things done. In my defense I hadn’t paid that much attention to Trump before the campaign – my mind didn’t comprehend what a malignant tumor he truly is.

When the first thing out of the gate was, “My inauguration was the biggest in history!!1!” I began to suspect maybe he hadn’t. Things went down hill from there.

Oh, in case I may have mislead, had I voted for Trump  in 2016 or 2020 it would have been the first time in my life I voted for a Republican as well.

It happens to all of us when we get to that age.

So how does the Eastman memo plan work in 2024 with Kamala Harris presiding over the EC vote count? Won’t Trumpists need to control both houses of Congress to object and get things thrown to the state legislatures?

Nonsense. Even Rudy doesn’t have 18 different orifices.

There were plenty of reasons to be suspect of her. Hillary Clinton isn’t an honest person; that is objective fact. The Clintons are a genuinely nasty bunch. She was not, as was inexplicably repeated ad nauseum, “the most qualified candidate ever.” These are not just Republican lies; there’s a lot of true, legitimate reason to find her extremely unsuitable to elected office.

Trump was WAY worse, obviously. The worst Presidential candidate in modern history, the worst President ever. He was an outright criminal many times over who’s escaped imprisonment mostly because he’s a rich white guy. The Comey announcement was horseshit. But let’s not pretend everything said about Hillary Clinton was false.

Let’s not pretend that there was not a 20 year smear campaign to magnify everything she did to make it The Worst Ever, combined with many examples of outright lies. Was she perfect? No. Was she a normal politician? Yes.

For the people who are still harping on this, “proof” that the election was stolen is simple as this: The election didn’t turn out the way they wanted, and they think that if they complain long enough, Biden etc. will step down, and Trump will regain the American Throne.

Sweat pores don’t count?

Thanks to Temporary_Name for the honest reason for not voting for Hillary in 2016. I think when the history of the death of American democracy is written, Comey’s decision to announce the investigation will be a prominent factor. He was so determined not to be seen as partial to Clinton that to prove it he bent over backwards to be more tough on her than her opponent. Take that announcement away, and Hillary wins easily. There were many people like our friend Temporary_Name who bought into the notion that when there’s smoke there’s fire. To be fair, generally there is.

That being said, let’s dispense with the notion that Hillary was the most qualified candidate ever. She got famous by being married to Bill. As first lady, she basically wrote a white paper on health care which was universally ignored. She got elected Senator because everyone was afraid to run against her. She got appointed SoS and to her credit was hardworking, but just try to point to a single accomplishment. Then all the other Democrats save Bernie Sanders (in the one year in four that he calls himself a Democrat) declined to challenge her for the nomination. Any other Democrat would have won in 2016 and we wouldn’t have had the impending death of democracy that we have today.

Or, she was the power behind the throne. I think Bill liked the glad handing, liked that people liked his power; I think Hillary had the drive. I think she is better at policy; Bill at deal making.
