Here is lower upper New York state, about 2 hours north of the city, in a district that usually tilts a bit Republican but went for Obama in 2008.
There are a few Obama signs in little hippie towns, and few Romney signs in between (and probably more handmade Ron Paul signs that either of them). Obama seems to be running ahead in bumper stickers, if you count the '08 ones, which outnumber the new ones. Maybe the matériel just hasn’t gotten here yet for either campaign.
From this one can only conclude that the Ron Paul supporters are vandalizing yard signs while the Obama supporters are stealing cars.
Massachusetts, north of Boston in a fairly affluent exurb adjacent to a very wealthy exurb:
Scattered bumper stickers, so far all Obama and none for Romney, though there are a few “Nobama”-type ones.
Yard signs: Usually triple, for Obama, Warren (Senate), Tierney (Congress) or Romney, Brown, Tisei. Sometimes just Warren versus Brown, or Tierney versus Tisei. Numbers seem to be more or less even, though the blue team, while initially outnumbered, has been expanding its empire recently.
As you might imagine, the red team signs tend to cluster in front of the estate properties.
I live in California and there are Romney/Ryan signs EVERYWHERE in my neighborhood. Shocking to me, since our state is dark blue. Not sure what to make of it, but four years ago, this neighborhood was covered with Obama signs
I just saw a Romney sign on my street - the same day I notice our sign has been stolen.
We didn’t go with the standard campaign sign, as we wanted to make a little bit more of a point. So we actually had our own sign made: Registered Republicans for Obama 2012. Some jerk-off stole it Sunday night, but I didn’t notice till last night.
Its kind of funny, on Sunday, some lady supposedly representing the Republican whatever of Iowa stopped by the house on Sunday to confirm that we would be voting, and I said “as you can see on the sign, we will be voting, but not for a Republican.”
I’ll have to go to the Dem offices and pick up a couple of official signs to replace it with. Take it again assholes, and I’ll actually donate and volunteer for Obama.
I see a mix, though when I am driving more rural I see more Romney signs. I live about an hour northeast of Pittsburgh, PA.
Fortunately, I also know a few businesses to avoid going forward. Including one between my place and Monroeville that has a “Vote for the Americans Romney and Ryan” sign. I wanted to take a pic, but I was driving.
Big huge Romney signs along the freeways that run through agricultural valleys, on land owned by big huge agricorporations which use wetback seasonal labor. Wild eh?
The Obama signs are in windows and on lawns of the college town I live near. Who would have thought.
Tons of Romney signs in my area, only a few Obama. My favorite is the house that has several Romney signs - two of them right next to each other say “I Vote Pro-Life!” and “I Support Religious Freedom!”
Also included in that yard: the standard Romney/Ryan sign, a “Be Calm and Vote GOP” sign, a “Vote like your freedom depends on it, because it DOES!” sign, and another one that has an eagle or some crap with some stuff about religious freedom and abortion or something.
California is dark blue on the coast and dark red inland. Could that be it?
Really I see far fewer signs of any kind than last time, and those few are mostly Romney. Although there is a pathetic Ron Paul billboard I pass a lot.
I’m in an upper-middle class neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas. Nearly all the signs that are up are Romney-Ryan ones. Only a single Obama-Biden sign on the two roads that I regularly traverse in the neighborhood. My across the street neighbor has about seven signs for all the Republican candidates on the ballot, but she’s an outlier, most houses have just the R-R sign. One house has had a lawn chair on the front lawn for the past month. Charming.
Oddly, 90% of the signs all appeared at the same time, over a weekend about two months ago, not long after the convention. Obviously a crew of R-R volunteers must have swept through the neighborhood while I was out or they knew I was an evil librul by the look of my lawn.
Like here in New Mexico…we are pretty much already in the bag for Obama, not that we have enough EVs to really matter anyway. I haven’t seen many signs, but lots of bumper stickers (mostly Obama ones though…and a few McCain/Palin ones still bumping along).
