Aw cmon, how could you NOT like the fact that she could freeze time just by putting her two fingers together?
Oh my god yes, I did see that.
I remember one episode (but this is the only one I remember) when they kept buying answering machines or something, b/c this little boy wanted money to play the violin and it turned out to be a scam…
Dija ever notice that Evee’s mom on Out of This World was John Travolta’s needy dance partner in Saturday Night Fever.
It’s just too fuckin’ scary…
Thank you! I’ve been trying to think of the name of that show for years. All I could ever remember was the theme song.
I’m feeling a little nostalgic now.
THANK YOU!!!
I have been trying to remember the name of that show for several weeks now. But I couldn’t remember enough about it to find it at IMDb.
You are my hero for the next 3 1/2 minutes.
Okay, I remember it…and I remember that Evie’s mom and dad met in the “60’s summer of love” type scenario. Didn’t they do that bit where they didn’t show his face during flashback scenes to prolong the “mystic.” BTW, website shows Evie & her dad’s cube. I remember that the mayor was a big part of the show. Just looked him up…yep, I remember the mayor being a dim blond bulb.
(Imagine how we’re skewing IMDB’s stats, all checking to see the cast of characters, etc.)
Okay, now I need some help…it was a short-lived sitcom where a woman who was hit by a trolley car in the 1920s is sent back to earth to take care of a family. Anyone?
Down To Earth.
I think I’m going to go shoot myself now for knowing that.
Dr. J
Paging SqrlCub…
three things-
Burt Reynolds(if I’m not mistaken) talked for Evie’s dad(boy was she hot! her friend was the lispy girl from Cloak and Dagger, and not quite as fine as Evie)
Contrary to popular belief, Jamie from Small Wonder did not grow up to be Billy Corgan (ala Paul from the Wonder Years)
Max Wright (if that is his name) was married to Anne Ramsey, Mama from Throw Mama From the Train and the Goonies.
that is all. jb.
I doubt Max Wright was married to Ann Ramsay. The IMDB makes no mention, and lists Wright’s wife’s name as “Linda”. Also, Ramsay was 14 years older than Wright.
And, while we’re on the subject of obscure TV shows, anyone here remember “Once a Hero?”
Anyone remember the show with the mannequin who froze when his beret or whatever was off, but who could walk around with it on? And he froze once he left the store or something.
teppei asked:
I thought it was called “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch”?
Seriously, I do vaguely remember the show - must have seen part of at least one episode. Talking to the cube and freezing time sparks a faint memory. Not something I really devoted my life to or anything.
Gundy, I remember Probe, with Parker Stevenson and some chick I can’t remember now. (Great, I can’t remember the girl’s name, but I remember the guy.) There was one episode that the key was ball lightning, and another that had a surgically enhanced orangutan committing murder by following TV shows. I liked that show. Don’t remember a crime solving boat. What does “boat” have to do with it?
That would be Today’s Special. Muffy the Mouse on that show had the best apartment – after they renovated it, that is. I loved that show.
I do not watch the syndicated “Out of this World”. My 10-year-old sister, however, does. And sometimes I just happen to be in the room. Just thought I’d note that although I can’t remember her name, the actress that played Evie has been guest starring in “7th Heaven” as Matt’s (ex)girlfriend, Shawna, for at least 1 season, maybe more.
Also, about “Small Wonder”. I vaguely remember the show, as I must have been very young when I saw it (keep in mind that I’m 14 now). The girl with the red hair and freckles? I always knew her name sounded like “chariot”, so I’m thinking it had to be either Charity or Harriet. Any confirmations here?
I remember Today’s Special, too, iampunha! I remember watching it on Nickelodeon. I DO remember Muffy the Mouse. I seem to also recall a talking computer and an old man security guard, who also was a puppet.
I THINK the manager of the store was a lovely African-American woman. Sound right to you?? I think it was a Canadian-produced show.
While we’re at it …
No one believes me at all about this show – but my brother and I used to watch it on TV in the early 80s when we’d get home from school in the afternoons. It was a Japanese show (LIVE-ACTION, not animated), and involved a little boy who was friends with three aliens (?) who lived in a cave. There was a man, a woman, and a boy – they were different-colored metallic suits, and could transform themselves into missile-type projectiles and fly to trouble-spots to help justice along. It seems to me there was a also an old (non-alien) man who lived in the cave as well. I think his name (in the dubbed American version at least) was Methuselah. Remember – this was a LIVE-ACTION show – NOT animated.
So can anyone help me out with this?
Oh thank you! I knew it was a pun-like name. I tried “Heaven Sent” and “Earth Angel” on IMDB and didn’t find it. Its the little things you know you know but can’t recall that make you batty. Be glad you called it up or there’d be two of us going, what was that show…?
Irishman, the crime-solving boat didn’t have anything to do with it, it was just a Simpsons reference. Sorry.
Re: the red-headed girl on Small Wonder, it was Harriet.
No one on Beans Baxter, huh. I’ve looked it up, I know it existed, but no one besides me seems to have watched it. I think for a while it was a lead-in to Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.
little*bit, I remember seeing the Simon cartoon regularly on Captain Kangaroo. I can almost remember the theme song…
Well you know my name is Simon,
And the things I draw come real
[somthingsomethingsomething…]
–sublight.
Sadly, I remember most of these shows.
Hey, anyone remember Mr. Merlin? Throb? Those seem to exist mostly in my head.
Actually, this thread probably reminds me why my answer to “Give up your tv or computer” was tv.
little bit …
“Simon and The Land of Chalk Drawings” was a favourite of mine when I was just a wee Feynnling…
Thanks for the little time warp back to a simpler time…
