Beans Baxter was filmed around Vancouver. I had a roommate once that got a part in an episode (Beans ends up in prison, somehow); most of him ended up on the cutting room floor, except for his right arm.
Anyone remember a show called Making It (I think)? Sort of a sitcom rip-off of “Saturday Night Fever,” with that guy from the Dr. Pepper commercials and “American Werewolf in London” doing the John Travolta part, and his mentor/idol/drug dealer/whatever played by some guy who, now that I think of it, looks like a younger, more animated Bernie from :Weekend at Bernie’s".
I saw it a couple of times, but the theme song still sticks in my head:
“I’m making it.
I got a chance, I’m taking it.
No more, no more, faking it.
This time it’s right,
I’m making it.”
Storytime: (this’ll answer questions about the Perfect Girl)
Ever since I met my wife, she’s heard me periodically bemoan the fact that DM is practically unavailable here. Every time we’d go into Suncoast or Blockbuster, she’d catch me looking in vain for videos.
This past summer I opened B-day presents and found not 1, not 2, but THREE DM videos! Turns out she rummaged around on Amazon and picked them up. Golly, I love this new-fangled internet thingy. (and I really love my wife…)
jb_farley : re: G.A.H. movie, this was news to me. Know anything about it? Same cast? (I always liked Robert Culp as the FBI guy.) Same song? …or will they update it, a-la Mission Impossible? Hmm… Metallica sings “Believe it or Not”. I just don’t know…
caircair: yah, The Tick was also one of the best, and Puddy’s perfect to play him IRL. Is there anyone else well known in the cast? Dustin Hoffman playing Sewer Urchin? (<Rain Man voice> yeah, definitely good casting, yeah… ,</Rain Man voice>)
Four years ago I finally had something good to watch on Saturday AM: The Tick, then Reboot. Since then, nothing. <rant> What’s with all the live action, Saved-by-the-Bell clones all over Sat. AM? The only cartoons left are Pokemon! (ggaackk)</rant>
Out of this World sounds VAGUELY (and I mean VAGUELY) familiar…but I used to watch Small Wonder all the time as a kid.
Estrella-did you go to school with Harriet, or the girl who played Vicky, the robot?
Does anyone remember the show Hi Honey I’m Home-it was basically a tv family from the fifties, which ends up in the 90s…it was really weird…
And then there was the Saturday morning cartoon Kid Video, which had Robby Rister, aka Cousin Oliver from The Brady Bunch.
I also remember a show from when I was little called Madame’s Place, that was about a rich woman, played by a PUPPET…
Yeah, I remember “It’s about Time” Astronauts Mack and Heck go back in time and meet cavemen played by Joe E.(Brown? Ross?) and Imogene Coca. There’s a Daisy-Mae-ish beautiful daughter, and the chief of the tribe and his goon (who want to get rid of the astronauts). Mack and Heck explain that they have come from “the other side of the Hill”. There were occasional dinosaur shots, lifted from such flicks as “Dinosaurus”.
Eventually (in no time at all, really),they exhausted the comic possibilities of this, so they changed the premise-- the caveman family joined Mack and Heck in the capsule and they came back to the present. This lasted even less time.
“Madame’s Place” featured the puppet “Madame”, created by (I believe) Wayland Flowers. I’ve seen them in Vegas.
