Has anyone seen "Weapons of Middle-Earth"?

I saw this at the bookstore. It was very cool. It had a lot of the props from the movie, and gave a lot of interesting backstory information, like how the current Gondorian shield designs are adapted for a shorter race of men (what exactly were the Numenorians anyway? Super-men?! )

There was tons of cool mundane info in there. Like I found out that each Mumak carried 50 Haradrim, and the Haradrim had 21 Mumakil in the battle of Pelannor fields. They were also huge status symbols and were supposed to be quite rare.

They also went into how a lot of the weapons were based on the wielders phsyiology, and that the stlyle of fighting often reflected their physical attributes. The elven swords were really neat, they had this nifty S shape to them, and seemed to be the length of a staff, half of which was the handle.

Are you talking about The Lord of the Rings: Weapons and Warfare? If so, I bought it about a month ago and have been reading a bit each night. It’s really pretty interesting, and there are a few pictures in there that didn’t quite make it into any of the movies.

It also confirms the appearance of the Mouth of Sauron in the extended version. The book has photos of his helm and armor with a description of the scene where he confronts Aragorn.

And I assume they hadn’t finalized the design for the rhino-things which pulled Grond, given that the text says that witnesses disagree on the appearance of the Evil Draft Animals.

In Tolkien, the taller you are, the more noble you are (WAG). Numenorians were more noble than their Gondorian descendants, so I’d assume they’d be taller.

I should get that book for Mr. Lissar. He’d love it.

I don’t have the book but my wife got me the official replica of Sting for X-Mas  It’s really Nice. Heavier than I thought …
