I have been thinking about trying out something like this to help me lose some weight. I recently weighed myself, and I’m actually up to almost 160 pounds.
It’s the heaviest I’ve ever been, and I’m just starting to look kind of chunky.
I’m just thinking that something like that could “jumpstart” me into losing some weight.
Does anyone have any experience/advice with this sort of thing?
Yes I have tried a few of them… all work pretty well too…
but you have to work out with them…
I noticed that I had gained some weight… and then I stepped on a scale… and I was about 208…
The next day… I went and joined a gym… and went on a no carb diet… I felt like I needed that extra boost…something that will give me more energy to workout… and something that would burn fat…
I started taking Ripped Fuel…mau-hung (ephedrine) free…
I started dropping weight pretty quickly… The 1st 8 were gone within a week…
After that it was going slower, so I figured I would try Xenadrine… and… I will be honest… the stuff works…
I didn’t take it twice a day like it says to. I just took it before I worked out… and after about 3 months… I was down to 155…
I am up to about 170-175 now… but i am trying to put on the weight(muscle)
the hardest thing was to stop taking a fat burner… I got so used to working out with it… that my body feels tired without it… but it does work pretty well…
They are mostly expensive glorified cups of coffee. You’re really better off getting some good beans and grinding them yourself for that “jumpstart”. Unless you don’t like coffee and are willing to spend the kind of money they cost. They are pretty convenient, and they do have more supplements than just the energy booster. From what I’ve read though (Muscle mag, personal trainers, etc) and IIRC, they only boost your fat burning about .03 percent above that which your body burns naturally in a day.
Granted, many of the supps. have other additives that assist in the weight training process. Betagen for example helps keep your muscles from getting so sore, and some of the other supps help you work out at your optimal level (sorry, if you need more info I’ll look up the actual supplement names rather than just the brand names).
Working out properly and eating the right amounts and types of food to fuel your workouts is really the most effective way to lose fat. If you’re looking at supps as a way of say boosting your energy so that you can get out of bed and go workout, or make it that extra hour after work, then it’s great used that way.
If you don’t plan on using it in conjunction with a workout and eating plan, you’re just wasting your money.
Also, you need to really be careful and make sure they are ephedrine free.
I’ve used betatrim…NOT a good idea. I thought I was smart and on top of things by making sure it was ephedra-free, but I neglected to consider the amount of caffeine packed in each pill! I have spells of arrhythmia, and whenever I took it, my heart would race out of control if I did anything but lay around and be lazy. Sorta defeated the purpose.
It did suppress my appetite, though. I think you’d be better off with an appetite suppressant than a fat burner.
Breezy, in considering these drugs (lets not cut corners, after all), don’t just throw the ma-huang/ephedra out the window. I’ve had great results with it…
Now, bear in mind, I’m still young (22), and was only looking to lose some fatty deposits here and there; moreover, I also eat what I call a de facto Atkins diet, and work out pretty regularly, so I’m generally in decent shape. In defense of ephedra, let’s not forget that for every person who has a very adverse reaction to it (ya know, DEATH), there are thousands upon thousands for whom it proves a worthwhile supplement. All this being said, once the last of my chub has disappeared, I’ll not take the stuff any longer.
Oh, I’ve taken Xenadrine (w/ ephedra), Ripped Fuel, and Hydroxycut. I’m probably gonna go back on Xenadrine once my Hyd is out, as I feel that it gave me the best gains.
That is true… people just have to be careful about taking it…
Never take more then the recomended dose… and Never take it if you have other health issues… HBP, Asthma… etc.
But it hass given me, and MANY other people great results with little-no side effects…
Be aware that there’s no supplement out there that’s worth a damn if your diet sucks. I think you are, but I want to make sure we’re all on the same page.
