Has anyone won a prize on Amazon?

If you read the fine print on each giveaway, it will show you the odds for winning. It will say something like “every 2500th eligible entry will win”. Ive seen it as high as 12000th, the lowest I’ve seen is 1200. So you’ve gotta do a lot of clicking to win. Some days if I’m bored I go to the giveaway page and click until I can stand seeing “Ann, you didn’t win” anymore. I’ve never won anything.

I just tried for some nice headphones, but I didn’t win. I never win these sort of things.

I won a kindle book once.

Actually, a few minutes after my earlier post, i went to the last page of giveaways, randomly clicked something that didn’t require watching a video or following an author, and I won a Kindle book. One that would’ve cost .99 to buy.

Looking at the fine print, most of the Kindle giveaways have better odds than the other product giveaways, usually 1 in a 100. And I was thinking that I might have better luck in an older giveaway because -if I’m understanding the way it works- you have to be the 1501st or 8001st person to enter in order to win. I don’t know if I proved anything though - except that I know how to kill time when I’m sick yet restless.

I was running on fumes yesterday so just to waste time I was clicking around on freebie sites and wound up on the Amazon giveaways page. So I dinked around a bit yesterday afternoon.

Then again during lunch today. Jackpot! Er, sort of. Won an Apple audio cable thing and a “gold” necklace. Around $18 list price but probably not even worth $3 in reality.

The odds listed for these were in the 1-600 to 900 range. A lot of stuff I looked at was usually 1200 and up. Some were in the multi 10k range.

Saw weird stuff. Driveway gate openers. These are expensive so the odds are particularly steep. How long does this stay up until someone wins one?

Lot of posture braces for some reason. Bluetooth-anything is common, esp. ear buds. Several security cams and hidden cams. Hamster hammocks. So your hamster can goof off in style.

I do all sorts of things with electronic projects so anything, for example, solar powered or with a rechargeable battery pack would be good for parts.

I don’t think I thought about these giveaways since this thread.

I continued to try these, winning stuff here and there. A few really cool things. (Right now I have two prizes on their way. One of them “cool” by my standards.)

I figured out better how things worked, etc. (For example: taking several days “off” seems to help.)

But, this isn’t what the post is about.

They are now displaying a notice that these giveaways are ending in a few days: Oct. 17th.

Oh, well.

All part of gearing up for Peak I would guess; “we” cleared the decks we wanted cleared and we’re ready for your onslaught of Holiday shopping. My guess is that they may return in January or so but possibly in a different location/link.
