So far I bought an Echo Dot for my dad ($34.99, reg $49.99, and I think I got $10 more off by ordering via my Echo)
I got the 23andme Ancestry + Health DNA report kit. It was $99, normally $199. I read about DNA stuff almost every day in Wired so I had to take the plunge. I will maybe see what kind of mutant I am.
I let my brother buy 6 Doctor Who DVDs using my account. He collects them and they were on sale.
I bought some 99 cent movies to stream. Office Christmas Party, Magic Mike XXL, quality stuff I’ve got 30 days to watch them.
I usually can’t find anything to put on my “Watch This Deal” list but this year I flagged a PetCo gift card, and oddly enough this cosplay wig I had been checking out previously.
I can’t really find anything I need/want except for a new digital camera. There’s one currently listed for $700 that will go on at 5:24 am. My price range is $400 so I’m not holding my breath, but I can dream. It will probably be $650.
ETA: I’ll look at movies and music, though. I hadn’t thought of them!
I was looking at a portable phone charger last night, whose deal I missed. Today another one came up, not as big of a deal but only $12 total. I bought that.
A piece of carry on luggage I was already planning to buy was $50 off.
A couple of sleep masks (for air travel).
There’s lots of other stuff, electronics and camera stuff mostly, that I’d like but am not going to buy. There might be some other luggage/travel items that I was planning to buy which I will grab if they drop in price.
That is a good idea on movies, I’ll check those out too.
I picked up a John Petrucci/Ernie Ball tee for my brother, expecting to get the 20% off with my card but when I put it in my cart it was actually $10 off with an Alexa discount (even though I didn’t order it through Alexa)
I did this last year and I forgot to do it this year - You can get a $5 credit if you buy a $25 gift card. You can buy the card for yourself and also have the credit. Last year I bought the card and used it right away on some Prime purchase. Now I am kinda done buying so I’m not sure I’ll need a gift card. Details here.
Ok one more thing. I searched on the site for a new watch and it turned out that most of the watches (Mickey Mouse watches) I wanted were Prime Day sales. All 30% off.
So I bought a $25 gift card, which gives me a $5 credit. I bought the watch (at 30% off) using the gift card.
I’m also using my Prime credit card so I get 5% back on everything next month.
Thank you! I hadn’t noticed this anywhere, and it’s a nice little discount. We bought a few books on our wishlist today, including a cookbook by J Kenji Lopez-Alt that we’re really looking forward to.
Are you familiar with KEH in Atlanta? I took a photography class last fall and he recommended them for used equipment. They have a 30 day return policy and various grades of equipment. They have financing through a bank I forget now. I got an SL1 for right at $300. I’m really happy with them. ONly thing, if you’re not home to sign, make sure you have them deliver to a UPS store to hold. Changing the pick up after the fact was a pure pain!
Brand New Playstation 4, Uncharted 4, and Mass Effect Andromeda all for just under 300. The discount of the system and Uncharted bundle was enough to make Mass Effect basically cost 15 bucks, and I went with the Deluxe edition.
Based on my camelcamelcamel extension, that’s the lowest price that bundle has been since black friday.
Bought a handful of little things including some high-protein snacks and some packable packpacks. Tried for a few restaurant gift cards by clicking on the button the instant they became available and lost out. I suspect there are bots out there nabbing those for resale or something  One of them even went to “waitlist filled” immediately; the other one, I at least got onto the waitlist.
No interest in the Echo and similar. I did consider the discounted subscription to the Kindle Unlimited but that wasn’t still available today. I hear it’s not that great anyway, as most of the really popular books aren’t available.
And… per orders in a thread I started in Cafe Society, I bought an Instant Pot. I’ll tell Typo Knig that I took care of my own birthday present.
Somehow I refrained from buying the dental tools, the endoscope, and other very strange offerings.
Oooh - one of the more horrifying things I saw (aside from the dental tools ::::shudder::: was some kind of mushroom cacao mixture. WHY???:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:???
