Has anyone written an ad-zapper for YouTube? Is it doable?

I.
See subject. Fast-Forwarding would be optimum. Could somebody get a hook into the Google Inc. stream and pump it faster?

If not, just a sound damper. Didn’t they figure out how to do this with broadcast, even though not in real time? I’m thinking that nothing on YouTube, except for rare live-stream, is in real time. And even here I think my thinking is kind of screwy, because a data stream is a data stream.

Are there reasons why this is fundamentally impractical, or just has no one gotten around to it?

II.
Also, is it just me, or has advertising on Google become far more pervasive recently? Before–and please correct me if I’m wrong–I used to anticipate ads on channels or individual vids with millions of views. I don’t know what the marketing/sales concepts are now, but Joe Neighbor’s cat vid is just as likely.

The Adblock Plus plugin for Firefox and Adblock for Chrome will kill Youtube ads.

Hmm. I was thinking of the YouTube player, which I now realize is pretty stupid considering it’s the company’ sown.

YouTube has ads? Seriously?

Oh yeah…that’s why I never see 'em.

Yeah, I installed Ad-Block Plus, and YouTube is now free and clear of ads. Works perfectly.
