Personally, i preferred the cynical, logical Baltar as opposed to the religious Baltar he seems to be becoming, i find it hard to believe a scientist can simply “flip a switch” and begin worshipping the Silicon God and Silicon Heaven (but where would all the toasters go?)
Baltar’s a smart guy (aside from the whole “thinking with his mivonks”" thing that allowed the Toaster Crew to get the drop on the Colonials in the mini (and force them all to eat toast ), so, what are the chances he’s simply playing along with “Harvey-ette” and telling her what she wants to hear, how much access to Baltar’s mind does the Neural Clone have (and did the Cylons steal the technology from Scorpius ), is it possible Baltar’s taking Six for a ride?
heh, i managed to stick quite a few other references in the post
I don’t know. They are sure leading us to believe that Baltar is coming round to Six’s way of thinking. Although he is a scientist, he has also been under a LOT of pressure lately. He really reached the breaking point when Six showed up for real as ‘Shelly’ and Baltar’s part in the Cylons’ destruction of the colonies was almost revealed. This is the classic method of brainwashing, isn’t it? First, mentally break the subject down. Then, build him up again to follow your philosophy.
I like the idea, though, that Baltar is just stringing Six along and that he isn’t really becoming her puppet. Perhaps he could become trusted enough that he could gain some valuable information about the Cylons from Six.
Wouldn’t it be great if Baltar became the ultimate hero in this whole saga? Not just a moment of redemption and a sacrificial act. That would be cliche. But if he truly outwitted the Cylons and turned the tables on them, that would be cool.
That would be pretty cool. Baltar is deathly afraid of being discovered a traitor, so to that end he might very well work to deceive and defeat the Cylons - not out of revenge or self-sacrifice, but merely to cover his own ass.
I seems like Batler has always been easily manipulated by #6. After all, he let her into the colonial defense computer in exchange for a bit of poontang and even now he still can’t seem to ignore her even when other people are around and he really should be not acting crazy. Makes you wonder if Balter has ever been laid before meeting #6…
Though again, there’s also the factor of Batler being deeply affected by guilt about helping destory mankind and/or fear of being revealed as inadventadly doing so.
Both of those seem enough for me to believe that Balter actually has honestly converted. He’s looked like he’s been on a neurotic downward spiral for most of the series and I don’t imagine it would take much to push him in that direction.
Yep, he’s accepted the One True God. There’s no mistaking his assertion that he was truly God’s (not the Gods’) instrument when he played Pin the Tail on the Cylon Base. Six even seemed taken aback that it had worked, and she actually may not have planted the idea in his head that that was the one opening into the interior of the Death Star. If that’s so, if this battle was to have been the humans’ final stand, she may be wondering if God really did guide his hand and if God may not really be a Cylons fan. But she’s able to hide emotions pretty well so who knows.
It may only make him more easily manipulable by Six and more willing to act in the Cylons’ interests, though (and let’s hope she keeps up the draped-leg, open-cleavage stuff anyway just in case). What those interests are is unrevealed.
